Hey everyone! I recently bought the AOC Q27G4XF and I have problems with HDR. If the monitor is set to SDR it looks great, but if I enable HDR, everything SDR will become whiter, including the taskbar, background and anything else that isn't streaming HDR. (to the point where blacks are gray and so on)
I did try the windows HDR calibration tool, but it only improved it minimally. Any advice would be much appriciated.
Thanks for the help in advance!

Eek, hopefully other AOC Q27 owners will be able to share their experiences and a possible solution.

Windows HDR can be hit and miss.

I have 3 PCs connected to LG OLED TVs and HDR looks great regardless of whether I'm gaming, watching a movie or even just web surfing on the desktop.

My office PC connected to a Philips Momentum 436m6vbpab is terrible and I've never been able to solve it. Enabling HDR makes everything dull and grey. When  connected to a 4k Blu-ray player or a games console it looks better but definitely not when used as a PCs screen.

Sorry couldn't be of more help.

I know for me personally, my monitor (gigabyte M27Q rev1) has HDR, im able to enable it and it does do something, but its not great, its a HDR enabled monitor but HDR doesnt actually improve much as its a great monitor, but its not phenomenal. So i just leave it off as its inconsistent between games and some games actually look better with it off. Some monitors are HDR enabled but arent built for it very well, they do it, but not well

Thanks for the replies! On the Windows HDR demo it does look great, it's just SDR that seems to be screwed up, but if HDR is off, SDR looks great as well. So I would imagine there is a setting somewhere that would fix it. (It's an AMD system btw)

Unfortunately, both of these aren't really capable of HDR and the reason you're having a bad time. You've been caught up in marketing with is a bit of a mess surrounding HDR. Both display can accept an HDR signal which to manufacturers, is enough for them to be marketed as "HDR capable" while in reality, their entry leve IPS or VA panels and edge-lit backlights with no local dimming prevent them from properly outputting a decent HDR image.

You'll be better off just leaving HDR turned off and tweaking the SDR profile.

Yeah thats largely where ive ended up, i just leave it on SDR, its a nicer and more consistent experience
