Hi everyone,

I recently purchased an RTX 4070 GPU and I'm blocked on how to connect this thing to my PSU:

This is what I used to have:

Now I have this cable:

How do I connect this?

Thanks in advance!

You should have one cable that is a daisy-chain. So it has 2x6+2 or 2x8pin that will go into the adapter that then goes into the GPU.

Is it safe to use any PSU dual 8pin cable? I can't find a proper brand that sells these

As long as its the GPU PCIE cables and not the CPU 8Pin power cables, yes. Dont mix them up, they look similar.

Most people tend to look away from using a daisy-chain cable on lower tier PSU's but here you have no choice with your current PSU as you have no other slots in the PSU for more cables.  This was more a problem back on shit tier PSU's from 2007.

Each GPU 8pin is rated for 150w and a 4070 is a 200w card and it can draw 75w from the PCIE slot in the motherboard as well.

So you have basically 375w of power available for a 200w GPU.  So even if your current PSU is not top tier I wouldn't worry about it 🙂

TLDR: Unless you are running a very poor PSU, completely safe with a RTX 4070 to use a daisy-chain cable.

If you want, you can tell me what exact PSU you have.

Would this cable work? https://www.amazon.ie/dp/B0C27NS6GB?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

You don't have the cables that came with your PSU?

You never told me what PSU you have so I can't say yes or no to this cable.

I have a RM550x. It didn't come with a daisy chain cable, but I do have spare 8pin cables, so I was thinking on connecting an 8pin spare cable to this cable splitter and the splitter to the GPU dual power cable like this:

The RM550x does come with a daisy-chain cable for the GPU.  Have you possibly lost it then?

Omg, you're right! It was hidden there somewhere. Thanks so much!

No Problem! Hehe 🙂  Glad you found it.  Fantastic.

The RMx series from Corsair uses some of the best daisy-chain cables out there so its completely safe to use with the 4070 and its adapter.

I have used the daisy-chain cables from RMx series with my 980Ti, 2080 Super and RTX 4080 without any issues, overclocked too.

Enjoy yor 4070, what a great card! 🙂
