what the best workstation CPU is.

Budget? If money is no object, probably the best solution is a FULL server CPU. Top end looks like AMD EPYC™ 9965S , but that's gonna be 10 grand for the CPU alone. And top end workstation might have two of them. You can easily spend brand new Corvette money on a workstation.

what will you even do with the thing anyways?

if you just need the pcie lanes for 7+ gpus epyc 7282 are going for less than 100$ with boards swinging around the 300-700$ mark based on time as sometimes theyre cheap while other times theyre expensive

for cores and ram you are looking at dual socket amd epyc but this depends on what your budget is as the latest gen is 10k+ expensive for 128c256t 9755 / 192c384t 9965 where used 64c128t epyc 7c13/7763 are going 700-800$ or qs 96c192t 9564/ 128c256t 9754 are going for ~2k$

Budget? Usecase?

Like just get a 128 core epyc for 10k then.

Also going intel right now is jsut literallt burning money if you need a hilarious amount of cores. They arent even close to competitive price wise at rhe moment or performance wise. They are playinf a hefty catch up game

What are you doing with workstation pc? What software you will run on it? Maybe you don't need workstation pc.

For AI and rendering very important is GPU not CPU.

What kind of development work are you doing? Workstation cpu isn’t going to matter as much for certain kinds vs GPU.

Peruse his previous posts, they shed more light on his needs.
