My brother build a PC with AMD 7800x3d and 7900 XT 20GB but i have a option to return it and pay 480$ more to get AMD 9800x3d and 9070 XT 16 GB.

is it worth it?

fyi: I do bit of both gaming and Editing

No, for almost $500 the first one is a better deal.  Sure, the GPU is better, but not worth the uptick.

The 9800X3D is too near the 7800X3D as well to justify.

Keep the one with the 7 series stuff.

The GPU is ~5% faster on average and the CPU is about 20% faster in production stuff where you have a shot at noticing the difference (very rough numbers but good enough). That just isn't worth nearly $500 IMO.

The only part of this that has a shot of the difference being worthwhile is the CPU, and you an buy a 9800X3D for the price difference that you can resell the 7800X3D you already own and save money. None of this seems worth it.
