My pc has a critical process died bsod either when opening a potentially ram intensive game or just randomly after booting. Taking 1 ram stick out fixes this issue; it doesn't matter which one I take out. I can't find the minidumps, I suppose they fail to be created. Couldn't find anything valuable in event viewer. Ram was bought as a kit. I've tried resetting cmos, running memtest86 (single and both. all passed), new ram, reseating CPU, trying out different dimm slots, updating bios, increasing ram voltages, lowering mhz and disabling XMP.

interestingly, clearing cmos and changing voltages seemed to fix this issue temporarily (like 5 hours).

Specs:
12600k
z690 tuf d4
Corsair Vengeance RT 2x8gb 16gb 3200mhz
3060 ti
cooler master v850 or v750 (i forgot)

This is my first forum post, sorry if i missed anything. I appreciate any help, thank you!

Welcome to the forums!
Try using BlueScreenView to look at the mnidumps which should be in `C:\Windows\Minidump`
Unfortunately, my guess would be that you have a dying mobo

Theres no minidump folder there. I do have event id 161 "Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation. BugCheckProgress was: 0x00040049"

You should probably test your Mem sticks in another computer to see if they can run simultaneously.

The components I suspect may have a problem are the motherboard and the CPU (where the memory controller is).

The CPU can be tested in another computer.

For the motherboard, you may try another set of mem sticks.

Good luck !

Yep, I also thought of the IMC and the motherboard. Unfortunately, I don't have another computer to the test the ram and cpu on. What I find weird is that memtest86 showed no errors.

That's why I think the problem is not the RAM sticks. The CPU or motherboard are more likely culprits.

If you can't use another computer, you can always try another set of RAM sticks or another CPU in your computer to see if it fixes something. You can probably buy those at a retail store and return for refund if you say they didn't fix your issue. Ask them before buying how many days you have before returning and if there are fees involved.

Thats probably going to be my route. Thank you!

Hey guys, I'm really sorry for the necro on this post. I still haven't fixed my issue. I don't want to upgrade my CPU or motherboard right now because my GPU is in greater need of an upgrade, so I'm thinking of buying a single 16 GB DDR4 stick and using that. Do you guys think it would work? (please read the short topic above for context)
