Someone is folding under my name?

It says that I've been folding constantly for a long time, I have not been, I just fired up my 3 machines today after watching the veratasium video about protiens.

If you're using a passkey and you haven't accidentally leaked it anywhere, that shouldn't be possible.

I agree, and short of losing my passkey somehow.... which beg's the question why would someone grab that one bit of data and fold to my account.... of all the thing's a loss of data integrity could entail this is the most mundane.  My best guess is that it's an error on overclockers and that the dates are wrong and this is my old activity.

yeah it has to be a problem with the forum, it says I have 2.3b points but my stats on f@h say ~120m

 

buuuut when I click the cert button it says 2.3b points..... so confused

That's because you have more than one passkey. The stats page on https://v8-4.foldingathome.org  are only for the passkey you are currently using whereas https://stats.foldingathome.org  is for all the passkeys combined.

wow, thank you for that information.  Someone is certainly using my passkey.  Maybe they don't even know it lol.

If my understanding is correct, you don't need a passkey to fold under someone elses username; it's just a registration method with the F@H servers to entice users with a 10x point bonus. Anyone can fold "for" anyone else simply by changing the username of the account (I did it once recently and confirmed all the points I generated showed up on the other users stat page)

 

So likely someone is folding under the username Psittac. Very unusual.

Man, who ever it is that's folding under my name has put some real work in.... if it was me it would be 10x?

 

I wonder how this affects my badge status because I haven't put in 2.3b points, but I've done far more than the 120m that it says on my passkey.

 

What ever the case thank you for folding so much, even if being under my name doesn't account for much.

 

I still can't fathom why someone would fold under someone else's name, let alone mine.

 

Thank you @TVwazhere for setting thing's straight, I was getting glitchy for a bit there because I spent 4 years in my parent's basement with almost no human contact and I believe I was folding then?  I think that I would stress test for 12 hours then fold once I knew the system was stable enough.  Yeah I'm positive, it was back in 03-07 give or take and I even looked up my old account at some point and the points were really low because I was on a single core system and not sure if gpu's were useable, if it was it would have been a 4 pixel pipeline 9600 AIW pro and the points weren't as easy to come by back then.  I'm gonna try and find that account.

The account you put is just the EoC page that you gave them, or if it's a very old badge the one they searched for. 

 

It's entirely possible to have multiple users with the same username, I've not looked into it cause I'm busy with college work right now. But, that is a possibility.

The other possibility is somehow, the data leaked and someone out there is folding under your name. Which would be unusual

That's not exactly correct... 

Each user has it's own UUID attached to it. If you fold without a passkey, a new user would be generated for the Anon account of that username. Then, when you enter a passkey, a second unique account with the same name is created. This account can only be accessed with that specific passkey, without it, the points go to the anon account of the same name. 

It is also ENTIRELY possible, to use a different passkey with the same name, and have a third, fifth or nth profile created. Each with its own UUID. This happened to me when I made my account there was a bug that sent 3 passkeys, I didn't know this, and have folded with each of them at one point or another. Now when I do to get the passkey emailed again, it always gives me the same one. So problem solved.
