Just bought a Xperia 10 VI 5G talk me out of it (or rather tell me why that was a good decision)

Good or bad decision?

keep in mind my current phone is a A41 and awful, awfully slow, and has Samsung ui (yikes, never again)

So snapdragon, eh, anything i need to know? should i root? (but why?)

Oh have one too for work. It's a neat little phone perfectly fine to use and delightfully thinner and light. BAsically just keep it as is as its pretty much stock android. Dunno why you'd root it really.

As for good or bad decision up to you really. Are there faster phone out there? Yes. But is there a notchless slim and small phone out there with headphone jack and a sd card slot? Yes this one series basically that's it.

yeah i thought its probably close to stock, had tons of sonys in the past and the ui was always great with all the features, and snappy (cause no bloat like with samsung)

oh notchless, nice \m/

Hmm, I like it for the most part, it's definitely faster than my old A41 and the fingerprint sensor actually works, but something is weird about the color / calibration... white isn't really white , more grayish or brownish, no matter what I try - pretty much perfect calibration out of the box was always one of the best Sony "features" for me... I set it to auto now, maybe that fixes it? 🤔

(red and orange are also really weird...strange)

edit: maybe it's just the OLED screen... I was really skeptical about this on my A41, but it wasn't as bad, it was nearly identical to my old Sony IPS screens... this one though is more what I expect from OLED, oversaturated, unnatural 🤷‍♀️

You can fiddle with it in the display settings colour enhancements but yeah same its a bit oversaturated but its mostly due to it using a different oled panel.

It's a bit better since I set it to automatic but I guess the screen just ain't that good - I also have a "matte" screen protector (as I always did, except for the Samsung) I'm not sure if that "skews" the colors but it never did on IPS screens...and it's chefkiss, I love the feel of it, it always gave screens an inky look, but that's not it I guess... some colors are just off, overall brightness seems low too... I guess the one thing the Samsung had really going for it was the screen - and I knew it, could a fooled me looked like IPS and close to true RGB too. Oh well, it's not a deal breaker (unless it's unreadable in sunshine I guess!)

It does but well you'll get used to the colours being different in a couple days usually.

never was for me was always plenty easy to read and I just had a generic screen protector on it.

I guess I did get used to it somewhat already!

also having fun listening to music over my 20+ year old  SONY earphones.

(never really used the headphone jack on my Samsung due to entirely wrong positioning - at the bottom...)
