I bought this "original" M3800 Dell battery replacement: https://www.cabatteriespc.com/dell-laptop-batteries-c-121_67/original-61wh-6-cell-battery-dell-precision-m3800-p31f-p-714670.html?language=en&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA2JG9BhAuEiwAH_zf3s4I8qm5dLbw3AO9-UsP5duhC6kfaRnORVT_NLf3wAyvIHTnpsQ7RhoCU7EQAvD_BwE

It runs about 1-1.5 hours from 100% to ~30% and suddenly dies. Even though the stickers and stuff are exactly the same as the original battery, I know that it is probably fake, but how is the battery life so bad? Is it possible that the laptop is miscommunicating with the battery?

That battery is for a.... 10/11 year old PC? Here the thing... if that battery IS original, that's not necessarily a good thing. That means it's been sitting on a shelf wasting away for all this time. You are better off getting a chinese reproduction because at least with that, you are getting new cells.

The reason I got that one is that it was 61wh like the original, unlike the 40wh Chinese ones. So, basically got scammed is the long story short?

I'm not sure what you mean, but I don't think you got scammed. I think you got exactly what was described to you... a 10 year old battery.

Was there any guarantee of performance or longevity?

It says Manufactured by: Clevo. I don't think it is original or if it is, it is not 10 years old. We contacted the seller and they might do a refund or a replacement. Do you think it is a good idea to do a replacement? If not, what should I get instead?

Btw: I measured the battery's voltage when the laptop was telling it was low battery, it was 10.8V which is exactly the lowest voltage. So, there is no miscommunication between the battery and the laptop.

I was also looking at that site for an x380 new battery

Found this recent reddit post about a users experience with and research about site

They did have good prices so would be good to know if your issues were resolved

I also noticed in my search many offers that were lower wh than spec
