Hi, my motherboard has two RAM slot. It's the Asus H510M-E. 64 GB Max Ram allowed.

Currently, it has only one stick of 8 GB DDR 4 2666 Mhz.

I want to buy one stick of either 16 GB or 32 GB but 3200 Mhz.    If I do that, will it conflict as one RAM stick has 2666 Mhz and the other 3200 Mhz?

Either 24 GB or 40 GB will be good for me.

Do both need to be same size and speed or it may cause any issue?

Thanks

It'll be just fine.

Both the sticks will run at the lower speed. For example, if your new stick is 3200Mhz capable, it will still run at 2666Mhz alongside your old one.

Regarding the size, there should be no problem at all. There are many laptops on the market right now with 24GB RAM.

Corsair SF750 | FormD T1 V2.5 Black | Asus B650E-I ROG Strix Gaming Wifi | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 32GB 6000MHz Team T-Create | Asus RTX 4080 Super ProArt OC | MSI MPG 271QRX QD-OLED

Thanks. Many were saying to get both of same stick as 16gb x 2 or 8gb x 2 OR I would face issues. I was like why lol

It's not necessarily going to be fine. They might POST at the lower frequency or just not POST at all. There are no guarantees when it comes to ram of different kits, your system might not even POST depending on how out of sync the ram timings could be. The only time a RAM configuration is sure to work is if it is validated by the mobo manufacturer for your cpu.
