Lots of PSU cables to use for GPU cable

That is correct 馃檪

So the part with 12 pins and 4 on top is the side that goes into the GPU.

This is also why its sometimes referred to as the 16pin. 12+4 = 16.

The other side goes into the PSU.

My PSU is a corsair rm1000x ATX fully modular, and it has 3 pcie 6+2 cables, one 8 pin pcie cable with 2 type5 ends, and one 6+2 dual pcie cable with one type 5 end. 5 cables in all.聽

The cable the gpu came with (4070 ti super), is a short 8 pin cable with an end of 3 - 8 pin connectors for, I assume, 3 pcie cables coming from the PSU.

Which of the 5 cables am I supposed to plug into the GPU cable --- 3 random pcie ones, or that one 8 pin pcie with 2 type5 ends on it directly into the gpu itself.gpucable.png.95214ec547cbfb061fbb86aca100c2f7.png聽 聽<----------- The gpu cable and the side with the 3 8 pin connectors.聽

Ideally: Get a Corsair 12vhpwr cable.

Otherwise: Use the NVidia Adapter and plug 3x 8pin PCIE into it.

The Declaration of Independence, once the charter of democracy, begins by saying that certain things are self-evident. If we were to trace the history of the American mind from Thomas Jefferson to William James, we should find that fewer and fewer things were self-evident, until at last hardly anything is self-evident. So this last picture here is the cables you want to use.

The Corsair RMx series use high quality gauge cables so using one Daisy-chain + another single is alright.

I did this with my own RM750x for my own RTX 4080.

Basically you want to do this into the adapter and then the adapter to the GPU.

The psu came with a 12+4 pin 12vhpwer cable. I plug that straight into the GPU?聽
What are the 5 pcie cables for then.

If you have the聽12+4 pin 12vhpwer then you want to use this cable from the PSU to the GPU 馃檪

The other 6+2 / 8Pin PCIE cables are for older Nvidia GPU's and AMD GPU's that uses that pin layout.

The RTX 5060 and 5060Ti is rumored to use the old 8pin connectors and not the new power cable.

Shift

Just use the included 12V 2x6 to 2x 8 pin Type 5 cable.

The same as the PATA and SATA cables are for. People with other parts than you.

Alrighty, thank you very much, the cables confuse me聽馃槀

Understandable! 馃槃

The Corsair PSU's come with a lot of cables and with the new power cable as well it can be a bit confusing if you are a new builder.

I bought a Corsair RM1000x 2024 model a few weeks back and it came with a lot of cables too.

Will be a nice build though!聽 Great PSU and a 4070 Ti Super, damn good GPU!

If you need any more help, you know where to write! 馃檪

You can also send me a DM here on the Forum if you want, I dont mind.
