Hi,

A friend got issues with BSODs when DOCP is active.

I'm trying to slowly troubleshoot the issue with him. Apart from BIOS issues like versions or settings, can issues hardware-wise, on the motherboard, provoc this?

Without DOCP he doesn't have any problems.

Thanks in advance.

What CPU, motherboard and RAM is being used?

B550M TUF
Ryzen 5 5600X
G.SKILL Aegis 32gb 3200mt/s (F4-3200C16D-32GIS)

Well DOCP IS actually an overclock and is not guaranteed to work.

3200Mhz is not that fast and should work well on a Ryzen 5600x.

Updating the BIOS can improve RAM compatability and stability.

Make sure they're in the right slots.

There's a possibility the kit is just faulty, I guess (can't run at the rated speed). Can you test it in another machine?

You could also try running it at regular 3200 by setting the frequency manually, with JEDEC timings.

I edited my post, because I think it wasn't clear enough:
But I'm not asking you guys to troubleshoot the system. That I'm capable of doing no problem.

I'm only asking:

Beyond the odds of oc etc...
+ the kit is really not that fast, it really shoudn't be a challenge.

To give a little more context:
- The kit of ram is new, bought in early december, and was tested priorly for an entire month my personnal system, no issues at all.
- The CPU was owned by my brother, which didn't have any issues. And it was paired with a faster kit.
- The only "shadier" part is the motherboard, which is used and I haven't got the chance to test it too much before sending that combo to my friend, as a present.

Hence why I'm asking if a hardware, physical issue, on the motherboard, could explain such a specific issue or not.

From what I'm aware of (from watching people like Buildzoid), the number of layers (on the PCB) and the topology used are the primary influence on RAM speed and stability, but when we're talking 2x16 at just 3200, I don't think those concerns would apply to any AM4 motherboard, because they're built better than that.

If something could be broken to the degree that even these modest speeds aren't possible? I suppose? But, I'd expect the slots to just not work at all in that scenario.

Ya I would agree, but I wasn't 100% sure.
It's weird tho. Will keep this topic updated if I found a fix.
