Nothing will display when i power it and i’m not sure how to do that without accessing the bios menu. or if there is even a way to do it.

You are in luck!

This motherboard has a BIOS Flashback feature that lets you update the BIOS with only CPU power and motherboard power connectors connected to the board 🙂  You don't need the CPU, RAM or GPU installed.  It doesn't matter if they are already installed of course.

On the back of the motherboard there will be a USB slot with BIOS written under it.

There will also be a button named BIOS Flashback or similar.

X670 motherboards need a BIOS update for Ryzen 9000 to work.

i just put together my new computer and the ez debug light for my cpu and ram are both on. i find it hard to believe they are bad as they are brand spankin new, unless i’m just that unlucky. i’m not sure what to do or how to go about this. i’ve tried just about everything i can think of doing.

Cpu: ryzen 5 9600x

Ram: corsair vengeance 2x16 ddr5 6000 mhz

Mobo: MSI X670e tomahawk

Gpu: rtx 4070

Psu: super flower Leadex VII

SSD: Kingston 1 tb nvme

You need to update the BIOS on the motherboard for the Ryzen 9000 series to work.

Have you done this?

Keep me updated @neb9876  I will be here for a few more hours if you require help.

i’ve attempted to update the BIOS and i’m not sure if it’s working. whenever i plug the usb drive in and press the flash bios button the little light blinks for a couple seconds and then goes to a steady light and doesn’t change.

Oh My. I realized my mistake and it seems to actually be updating the bios now!! I forgot to take the bios file out of the folder and remove everything else.🤦🏼 i will give a further update when it’s done with what it’s doing.

Oh you ain't the first and definitely not the last person to do that 😄  I am guilty too.

Keep me updated.

That was it. it seems to be up and running perfectly now. 😅 this was a last ditch effort but i’m very happy how it panned out. i thought for sure i was losing my sanity and was about to go down a very expensive rabbit hole of ordering more parts🤦🏼. thank you so much for the help!!!

Perfect! 😄  I had a good feeling about this when you mentioned you hadn't updated the BIOS yet.

Glad you came to the LTT Forums for help, saved you a lot of trouble and maybe some money as you mention! 🙂

This will be a great system!  Loving the Super Flower PSU, my favorite PSU brand!

Install windows, get things going, download all the drivers etc and then remember to turn XMP / EXPO on for your RAM so it can run at 6000Mhz.

I have had issues with my own 7700x with an Nvidia GPU where I had to turn the iGPU off ( Onboard CPU graphics ) for the Nvidia GPU to be recognized properly by all programs and games.

This is done in the BIOS.

I updated my own BIOS yesterday and I had to turn the iGPU off again as MSI Afterburner thought I had an AMD GPU.

I updated my BIOS as I am installing a Ryzen 9000 CPU myself.

Good luck! If you run into any problems, you know where to write.
