I had an older Beelink that I installed SteamOS to try and it worked well, but I decided that I wanted newer hardware for better performance. I bought the minisforum UM760 which has a AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS. I am doing a fresh install with the steamos recovery image.

The USB boot starts but I see a few errors related to different things (some of which I saw in the other install on the Beelink), the main concern is an error that seems to indicate the amdgpu initialization failed. The script continues though and then stops at `Finished SteamOS Boot Registration`. I left this for a few minutes but it never moved, when I did my first install on the beelink I did leave it unattended for a while so I don't really know if this is normal or if it is just stuck.

Based on what I have read I assume the hardware should be supported but can't tell for sure.

The hardware is not supported because the only hardware that is supported at this time is a Steam Deck.

I would personally go for a community version with wider hardware support like Bazzite. Installing SteamOS right now is basically accepting that you might have to deal with this sort of thing.

Officially supported, yes. However, like was shown in the recent LTT video you can run SteamOS on hardware that is similar (AMD CPU / GPU). And as I said I have SteamOS working on a Beelink SER4 which is also not a steam deck.

Yeah, I didn't realize how similar these are. I ended up installing ChimeraOS and it is almost identically SteamOS in terms of user experience, but it does support the newer hardware
