Aliexpress itself is not a shop, it's a marketplace. Trustworthy sellers have hundreds of positive feedback, I believe nothing to fear from ordering from them.

There are some shady sellers, but they have either no feedback or mostly negative feedback.

I edit my posts more often than not

Never spend money on Ali that you're not willing to throw out the window.

You may get the product as advertised, you may get something close, or you may get something unrelated or even nothing.

So make sure anything you spend on Ali is money you're willing to just burn.

Depends on what you mean by trustworthy.

Is the product high quality? Well, remember, you get what you pay for. A $2 screwdriver? $3 hammer? $4 PC fan? They're all going to be real products, but they'll be junk quality.

I've ordered from them several times and I've gotten exactly what I expected. Sometimes it arrives within a week, sometimes it arrives within a month.

I'm never been scammed by them.

Ali express is trustworthy. But know you are often buying shenzen specials. I have never had an issue with them when I'm buying obscure tech stuff.

Its a marketplace similar to any other marketplace, each seller is unique.

I mean you often are. You are closer to the source then buying from a drop shipper or some american branded shenzen special.

You just have to konw what you are purchasing, I have not run into a product not meeting spec. If you dont understand the spec, you dont know what you are buying.

Of course I never go there to just shop around, I have a model of a part I need and they often have that model or model equivelent because the factories are in china that make the parts for the big name company.

Ordered over 100's of items from there.
Never really had an issue, they have better support then Ebay.
If a seller doenst do what they are supposed to do Aliexpress itself usualy chooses the customers side.
(In all transparency those are all under 25$ items. Items more expensive ive not had any issue with.)

Just dont forget the lack of good quality control, so you get lower quality but also way lower price.

I would not order high voltage stuff from them. No adapters and no batteries. Imho that could be dangerous.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

I bought a CPU, GPU, SSD, and RAM from Aliexpress. No complaints. Seek vendors with high ratings and many orders.

For something relatively inexpensive (<$500) with Paypal, sure. I haven't had a reason to so far though.

What do you actually think I am buying?

I live in Norway so I only buy from Norwegian stores.

We have a 25% import tax on anything we buy outside of Norway so I am basically forced to not buy anything abroad.

What does being in norway have to do with buying shenzen specials?  What sort of electronics do you think Norway stores sell?

AliExpress is really good for certain things. Items like mouse switches for example (top of mind as I just purchased some) are sometimes exclusively found on there.

some stuff is good some stuff not so good. like buying a 4tb ssd for like $50 is probably a scam. there are name brad stuff on there too thow like thermalright and some stuff you cant get on amazon at lest in Canada yet... (had a 140mm 28mm fan...)

they have gotten better over the years now with paypal.

thow there some stuff i dont get like there coupons and some items need to buy a bunch to get an order. listings will have a few items and they will show a pic of there hier price and list it as the lower price but this has been happing on the web for years so... 🤷‍♂️

it keeps what you look for and well shows items from thows items even thow your looking for cpus... but you can clear that list. some times they use other words like 14cm for 140mm fans

i once tried buying 4pin fan extensions from ebay from like 6 different people and got nothing waiting for moths then i got a gifted card for xmiss and got them for ali and they showed up so...🤷‍♂️

keep in mind they can sell look alike stuff and make it seem legit.
