Budget (including currency): 1500-2000 EUR, flexible whether other specs would need to be renewed or not.

Country: Spain.

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I aim to build a mid to high-end gaming PC capable of running recent games at 1440p resolution with 144Hz refresh rate. I'm absolutely open to adjusting some settings to maintain this performance, not looking for Ultra 1440p@144hz for every single possible game. Games that could be examples: Cyberpunk 2077, high-load Satisfactory/Cities Skylines II or Baldur's Gate 3.

Other details: I want to upgrade my build because I've been using a RTX 1070 for the past 10 years. It worked perfectly and I cannot be more satisfied with it. However, I've been waiting for a exciting RTX series to come out and this one seemed to be the case. Therefore, I would like to reuse my existing parts that I think they can be still useful for at least a couple of years. These parts would be: a CPU i5-12600K that have been never overclocked (and assume I will be doing that more often), a motherboard ASUS PRIME Z690-P, and my existing storage and vents. My asklist for this post therefore is: suitable RAM for this build (I assume that would be 32 gb), a set up of liquid AIO (my current one has already 4 years of life) + other vents if are also needed (see offtopic), and of course, know if i5-12600K + RTX5080, stating that im okay upgrading the CPU in the next 1-2 years, is a nice fit and not bottlenecked.

Offtopic: I had problems with my current build with RGB components (RAM, vents, liquid AIO), not being synced, some of them worked with ASUS ArmouryCrate, other worked with Corsair iCUE. Not absolutely needed, but I really wnat to have something that I could sync and not have to worry about that.

There are no official benchmarks with RTX 5080, but to assume 20% better performance from 4080 then the CPU bottleneck is there, not a big one, but still.

Also the availability at launch further down this month, the availability is probably very low. Hence the prices will probably be higher than the $999 MSRP, even if there's availability.

X3D CPU prices are quite high now too, otherwise I'd recommend planning to upgrade the LGA1700 platform to latest AM5.

I edit my posts more often than not
