Looking for a mouse for Mac OS use.

Go to solution Solved by seanondemand,

Logitech MX Master 3S.  Can be connected to 3 Bluetooth devices simultaneously, super easy profile setup and switching in software, a reasonable number of buttons, a surprisingly useful side scroll wheel and a unique thumb gesture button that can be used for things like switching between full screen apps or activating the launch pad. And the coolest scroll wheel known to man. It is the best non-gaming mouse you can buy imo

I need some help with finding a mouse to use for Mac OS. I am trying to replace my magic mouse, but I also did not want a very cheap mouse either.

I do have some restrictions:

  • The mouse has to have bluetooth. I want the Mac Mini setup to have as few cables as possible.
  • The mouse needs to have extra buttons for macro setup, primarily for launchpad.
  • The price range I am looking for is roughly $35-$70, but I will go over if a specific mouse may be worth the price.
  • It can do gaming good enough, but this computer is mostly going to be used casually. Will be used for some photo editing too.
  • Regular or gaming mice are fine, but I did not want to go for the cheap logitech and call it a day.

For some references, I have went through three different mouses so far with varying results. I have used: Corsair Nightsword, Razer Basilisk V3, and the Corsair Harpoon.

  1. The Corsair Nightsword is my main mouse for Windows, and I love it, especially the shape of the mouse, the thumb rest, and the added weights adding some heft. But I am not using this because I'm sticking with a wireless setup.
  2. The Razer Basilisk V3 was a really good start picking out a wireless mouse in my opinion. But when I went to download the software to edit the macros, I found out Razer does not make any software for the current Mac OS. Since I really am relying on mappable macros, I couldn't stick with this.
  3. My latest attempt was the Corsair Harpoon, and I did get it to work as intended, although one glaring flaw I found out about was the fact that any custom profile created for the mouse cannot be used through bluetooth.

I do apologize if I'm quite the nitpick here, but I just want a mouse that just works well for this computer and my renovated desk setup. Any help is appreciated.

Have you tried Logitech MX Master line? Similar shape but wireless, and a really good intercompatibility between platforms.

One thing to note with the MX Master 3S, if you're used to a conventional scroll wheel where you do rapid short bursts to quickly scroll down, there will be a learning curve. This is a common complaint with the 3S.

Here's a good demonstration of the bug feature:

Outside of that, the mouse is great. I like that you can pair 3 devices with a button on the bottom of the mouse to switch which device to connect to.

Intel® Core™ i7-12700 | GIGABYTE B660 AORUS MASTER DDR4 | Gigabyte Radeon™ RX 6650 XT Gaming OC | 32GB Corsair Vengeance® RGB Pro SL DDR4 | Samsung 990 Pro 1TB | WD Green 1.5TB | Windows 11 Pro | NZXT H510 Flow White
Sony MDR-V250 | GNT-500 | Logitech G610 Orion Brown | Logitech G402 | Samsung C27JG5 | ASUS ProArt PA238QR
iPhone 12 Mini (iOS 17.7) | iPhone XR (iOS 17.7) | KZ AZ09 Pro x KZ ZSN Pro X | Sennheiser HD450bt
Intel® Core™ i7-1265U | Kioxia KBG50ZNV512G | 16GB DDR4 | Windows 11 Enterprise | HP EliteBook 650 G9
Intel® Core™ i5-8520U | WD Blue M.2 250GB | 1TB Seagate FireCuda | 16GB DDR4 | Windows 11 Home | ASUS Vivobook 15
Intel® Core™ i7-3520M | GT 630M | 16 GB Corsair Vengeance® DDR3 |
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB | macOS Catalina | Lenovo IdeaPad P580

I have heard good things other than the scroll wheel on that mouse, so I was not entirely sure because of the scrolling issues. I'll try it out.

Yeah this may take a bit for me to learn, I just use the conventional scrolling as seen in the third example.
