I asked about this before in other topics, but I though I should open a new topic specifically about this. Most people seem to agree that IPS is better than VA and TN, but I also read different opinions. I have several options for a 27" monitor, but much fewer for a 32" one and I was thinking if I should keep looking for IPS or also consider VA. I now use a monitor with a TN panel , which are also difficult to find. This is intended for office work and watching movies. I have seen curved monitors on display and I think I prefer flat.

If viewing pleasure is what you want out of your monitor, then IPS is the way to go since generally IPS displays produce better colors and provide less eye strain than cheap TNs (which most of TNs are, exceptions are the ones meant for gaming aka high refresh rate ones), but your mileage may vary. There are people that get eye strain from IPS, but that might be from certain models of panels or PWM.

VA is only better at reproducing deeper black than IPS, so unless you care about that, I wouldn't go that route.

Another thing I would recommend is go to your local "Best Buy" analog and check whether you get eye fatigue from IPS without PWM or with high-frequency PWM.

Purify your Windows 10/11, don't give Microsoft anything that you don't want to share.

Viewing pleasure and less eye strain is what I am looking for, I am not sure what I could gain from a difference in black. As I am not looking for curved, I don't expect to find TN monitors with a high refresh rate. Also, I might not be able to check a monitor before buying, is PWM still used in monitors advertised as flicker-free?

If they do, it most probably flickers at really high frequency. Check reviews from different sites for mentioning PWM on model you're looking for.
