I want to start a side hustle with a 3D printer (and also for some personal use). I know the sensible thing would be to take it slow, get a small cheap beginner-friendly printer, experiment, get comfortable, then work up to a better printer, but I'm on a bit of a time crunch so I'd like to dive into the deep end and run a trial by fire.

I'm kicking around a few ideas, like cosplay props, custom keyboards, Tabletop minis, etc.

What do people recommend? From my research it looks like the Creality K2 Plus is a pretty strong option. I also see a lot of recommendations for Bambu. Also, I run linux (Manjaro/Arch) and I saw that Bambu has better linux support, but Creality is generally more open sourced and there are non-Creality programs that work with it. I'm looking for something that's under $2k usd.

BambuLab P1S with AMS.

If you want serious multimaterial/multicolor than go with a toolchanger.  Jubilee is an option.

The Declaration of Independence, once the charter of democracy, begins by saying that certain things are self-evident. If we were to trace the history of the American mind from Thomas Jefferson to William James, we should find that fewer and fewer things were self-evident, until at last hardly anything is self-evident. (G. K. Chesterton - Aug. 14 1926 (The Illustrated London News))

I would recommend against Creality for serious pants pro work. They are great printers for the price and a treat for tinkerers but they are not as reliable and predictable, need some attention/upgrades/maintenance to run consistently great.

Like others said - Prusa or Bambu. Cost more but you get what you pay for.
