Howdy.

I'm looking to build a windows server with as many GPUs that I can fit into it for some video encoding. (5070s when they come out)

Does anyone have a recommended motherboard / gpu riser combo, it doesn't actually need to fit in any kind of case I can just stick it in one of these mining rig cases.

I just need to be able to use ffmpeg with all the GPUs.

Thanks,

Scott

AMD Epyc has much many PCIe lanes, which is good for GPU's, but the question remains..

what is this "some video encoding" that you need a multi-gpu machine?

i presume this is related to your previous topic?

EDIT, PS, if this is for something in a business environment where the encoding machine is an important part of the workflow, these things are fairly bulletproof machines you can just plonk 4 GPU's in, put it on a desk, and leave it to do work:

https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/system/4u/7049/sys-7049gp-trt.cfm

(i'm sure they have a bunch of offerings, but it's kind of difficult to find specificly the quad GPU chassis)

Think the epyc options are even cheaper and of course faster but yeah not an easy site to browse. Bonus would be that op can also leverage the cpu's in there then to assist encoding

CPU can be anything.
The workflow is just encoding raw 20-40mbps 4k video down into 4k,qhd,fhd etc currently we split the video files into chunks which are picked up by 3 different machines currently holding 4 GPUs across all of them, just just looking to shrink the footprint of the base machines and expand to 8 GPUs when the 50 series is out.

That 7049GP looks a good shout, or at least its a good place to start.
