Don't buy fastest monitor purely by spec. There can be "good" monitors by spec but in the real world utterly shit because of smearing, overshoot, bad angles, contrast levels and so on that ruin the experience and make your monitor feel extremely cheap and a waste of money.

 

Tech can impact how something looks. VA for example I think is terrible for fast stuff, TN is cheapest but I hate the viewing angles on them so IPS is a great option, however response time on OLED being instant means that an even lower refreshrate OLED looks snappier than a higher Hz TN/IPS.

 

I'd rather you get a average monitor that has a good clarity of a fast picture over its ability to output impressive refreshrate numbers on a piece of paper.

That will buy you nothing good. Specs alone like Hz especially on LCD monitors mean nothing. Price can dictate their quality. Really you either get a decent quality and Hz monitor or highest Hz and good monitor that is expensive.
