Budget (including currency): 2800 gbp

Country: England

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Esports and general usage without limitations

Other details: the budget doesn't include custom cables or fans.

I'm upgrading because the 50 series is due to be released. I want a balance between aesthetics and performance.

Any help is appreciated

Not sure what you meant by aesthetics so i went for minimalist rgb with an equally small case for space efficiency and also made it somewhat cost effective, yes the board is more than fine for an overclocked 16 core andit has the extra benifit of making rgb rams look alot better cause no empty ram slots

I like what you have done. I'm looking to get lian li o11 evo rgb. I should have mentioned but I want a mid tower with atx motherboard. I kinda want to use my budget up since its not only me paying for me

Abysmally bad considering theres only a 5070 in it

Cut the 9800x3d to a 7900 on my build and im pretty sure youd be able to fit a 5090 considering it already comfortably fits a 5080 at 2000£

Basically lots of waste on overpriced aios, overkill mobo, ssd, case, etc. And you could have atleast gotten a good psu not a shitty rme with only a 7 year warranty and fan noise issues

ill go make a 5080 and 5090 build rq

7900 + 5090 + 32gb 6000c30

Though it is like 150£ overbudget but it does fit the criteria

5080 version is the same thing but 9800x3d in place of the 7900 so itll be closer to 2200£ which is lower than the list you posted

Rest of the budget do something actually interesting with it rather than some boring lcd aio which is not only overpriced but also basically useless due to being far too small

imagine the effects you can pull with something like this on a fishtank case unlike a tiny aio display that wont really be noticable

Tbf I understand what you're saying but I would just change a few things just off of aesthetics

7900 + 5090 + 32gb 6000c30

I would really avoid the 7900 for a gaming-focussed build!

7900X is more of a budget workstation CPU - it's a great 12 core, 24 thread CPU.... especially good for CPU-heavy processing (databases / compressing / compiling) where you don't want the cost of a 9950X/7950X, but it has some serious weaknesses for gaming... dual CCD (essentially two 7600X's).... so most of the time, it's comparable to a 7600X for gaming (still decent).... but usually with higher 1% lows as there's a risk that the required code that's in L3 cache is on the wrong CCD.

If you need to cut the CPU budget (mostly gaming focussed), then drop to a 7700X... at least then you have a single 8-core CPU.

If the PC is REALLY gaming focussed and it sounds like there is plenty budget to do this properly, then the 9800X3D is the obvious choice.... with the 7800X3D being a viable "budget" option... the 9800X3D is a nice step up from that for gaming and a significant step up for non-gaming (all-core) work as the 7800X3D clocks itself down to 4.7Ghz on all-core workloads, while the 9800X3D can hold 5.5Ghz+ in all-core.

Here's the non-X3D chips stacking up against each other.

Any and all CPUs are a big downgrade from a 9800X3D, for gaming. You're far better off with a 9800X3D and 5080 than a 7900X and 5090, especially since most people keep their CPU's for 2-3 GPU upgrades. If you get a 9800X3d and 5080 now, it's going to be really easy to upgrade to a 6080 which will almost certainly have 5090 performance

Yea I'm definitely going for the 9800X3D but people I've spoke to have said go for the 7900XTX. idk about Radeon though since i have the 6800xt and I hate it. So ill probably go for the 5080 depending on availability and if the prices are close to if not msrp

You're on the right track, bud.... 9800X3D, 32Gb of DDR5-6000CL30 and either of those cards will be pretty special for high end gaming and a fair amount of video/productivity work too!

I'd be interested to know your reasons for not liking the RX6800XT?

I constantly switch between the different CPU/GPU manufacturers - I've been been very happy with my last few Nvidia cards and I haven't had any proper AMD gaming cards since about 2020... and that was my HD7970... but I have a 50/50 mix of AMD vs Nvidia devices at home and I'm likely to go for an AMD for my next gaming rig:

  • I don't do any RT gaming at all
  • I no longer need CUDA cores
  • I really prefer the AMD software on my HTPC/laptops compared to any of the recent/current Nvidia offerings
  • The Nvidia cards are overpriced, especially considering the intentionally restrictive level of VRAM; which feels like an effort to prematurely age the card and force your next upgrade sooner than needed

This psu is a bit on the expensive side but it's ATX 3.1 which is what you want with these RTX 50XX cards. The case has two settings for your motherboard ... you can set it lower in this case so that you have plenty of room for an AIO not to mention this case has the best thermals to date tmk. Replace the 140mm exhaust fan that's included with this case with the 140mm ARGB fan down below if you desire the full effect otherwise delete that fan from this build.
