I9 10th gen + RTX 5070 ???

Go to solution Solved by starsmine,

Just do it.

your performance will improve, and then in 3 years if you find you are not happy with your CPU performance you can upgrade the CPU then.

bottlenecks like this are not an issue.

Hello everyone, I’m new here and could really use some advice!

With the upcoming RTX 50 series GPUs, I’m planning to upgrade my PC. Will my current CPU and a potential RTX 5070 create a bottleneck? I’m hesitant to build an entirely new system since it would cost a lot of money. Do you think it’s better to stick with upgrading my GPU, or should I just build a new system from scratch?

I know that an RTX 4090 paired with an i9-10850K has a bottleneck of around 20-30% at 1440p resolution. The new GPUs will probably be more efficient, consume less power, and offer better AI capabilities.

I mainly use my PC for video editing in After Effects and playing new games when they’re released. My current RTX 3070 Ti is struggling to handle Indiana Jones on max settings, so it feels like it’s time to upgrade.

What would you recommend?

My correct pc spec:

CPU: Intel Core i9-10850K 3.6 GHz 10-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE LCD XT 65.57 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus ROG MAXIMUS XII HERO (WI-FI) ATX LGA1200 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory
Video Card: MSI GAMING X TRIO GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8 GB Video Card
Case: Corsair 3500X ARGB ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair RM850 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

only provided the task you are doing requires both components and and one is being tasked more than the other to the point of causing one to wait for the other to catch up.

How do you know the bottleneck of a 4090 + 10850K?

5070 will be great with it, as a matter of fact why not try it and see?  All of us have bottlenecked machines, I have multiple lopsided machines personally.  It isn't a big deal 🙂
