cant get headphones to work on my pc !!!!!!!

so im having an isssue with all headphone i plug into my pc via the rear audio jacks my headphones just dont seem to show up or work ive updated the driversand still nothing but i also have no front panel audio as i removed it from my motherboard what could be the problem
