My buddy's wife has a new position at work and can work from home.  He bought her a prebuilt for christmas but returned it then she found out about the new working position and he told her that I can build one and she's fine with that.  I'm not familiar with this program but it say's it's cloud based and just needs a 1440 monitor, no requirements for a gpu.  So I'm telling him to do an 8 core am5 then add an A580 later if he finds that she needs it, but I'm confident she won't.  And I have a 2080s that isn't being used for now that can be a stop gap.  He's all worried that an igpu won't be good enough for it..... but it's cloud based.

Anyways here is what I have so far, the A580 is currently being scalped so it's not on the list.  https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2T4fpK

Congratulations! Your buddy's wife should be requesting computer equipment through their employer, especially if this is a healthcare related role.

If their employer is not supplying equipment, I would be EXTREMELY concerned for the integrity and security of any work-related data going through a computer that isn't managed / supported by the employer, once again especially when any financial or healthcare data is involved.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, RTX2060) Mobile: OnePlus 5T | [REDACTED] - 50GB US + CAN Data $34/month

I read a bit through the requirements and it seems once you have an AM5 CPU with 6/8 cores and 16-32GB of RAM with an NVME ssd, that's all you really need.

BYOD could be appropriate for this type of work if implemented properly. If they do allow BYOD, they likely use some sort of Enterprise Browser solution like Island to access web-based corporate apps.
I agree though, buddy's wife should probably just use an issued device. If they want to use their own definitely look up the BYOD policy in the company directory or ask HR for a copy.

i presume they use some form of remote access or cloud desktop solution to keep things secure.

this is a trend in corporate infrastructure i honestly dont agree with because the cost structure just doesnt make sense outside the board room, but essentially the thought is your data never leaves your secure datacenter, all that goes out is the encrypted remote access connection for a user, and all that has to go in is their encrypted peripheral inputs.

and while traditionally companies would just ship out laptops to their remote workers, the latest hype is to just give them budget to BYOD, and then just not deal with the IT overhead of managing these remote devices.
