The "EA!" Penguin Returns with an extreme 2013 AMD Build

Greetings!

My last post to this forum was in 2015, about a decade ago. Since then, I've traveled and stared at fine pieces of "art," etc. I am here with a part list that would have made Team Red go to war in 2013. This computer will run hot and loud, and I will document the entire build in this forum as parts come in from a mix of eBay and other retailers.

is this really 2013 era? i wasnt really around at that time or atleast i was only a kid around that time so no clue on the pc hardware space back then, i mainly focus on the platform (mobo cpu ram) rather than stuff like coolers

beware that these might come with garbage samsung 4gbit that wont clock much beyond 2400, last time i tried 4 stick on fx it walled at 1600 but that was on a 970 extreme 3 so maybe just bad board even though 2 stick can go 2700+ (ram limit due to garbage green pcb transcend sticks best of which can only manage 2656c11 stability at 2.2v) so if you run into issues with clocking the ram you can try swapping bios versions, newer =/= better sometimes so older bioses are still worth looking at (ex my x58a ud3r i run with bios fb cause ff nukes 1:1 uncore on 45nm and clocks ran worse than fb)

if you want guaranteed good ics you can look for some oem hynix 1333/1600 ex hmt41gu6mfr8n 4gbit mfr yeah that same ic that was capable of those >3600 ddr3 runs, theyll run 2800 easy peasy probably beyond that given a good imc and the pcb likely wont be a limiter till well into the 3000s as far as i can tell (pushed a couple dualrank hmt351u6cfr8c 1600 2gbit cfr to 2800c11 stable with an i7 930)

afaik fx imc is somewhere close to x58 (abit behind it looking at hwbot subs) and ive managed to get 3008 dualchannel to run for a couple hours p95 before erroring out (boardlimit on an x58a ud3r and cpu is a w3680) so id expect fx to do somewhere around the 2600-2800 mark though 4 stick will be boardlimited for the most part cause afaik ddr3 imcs arent really affected by ranks

welp as far as i can tell this is the best board for fx but damn thats gotta cost a pretty penny considering broken ones sell for like 40$ here in my country

personally also interested in amd fx but i just bought a z97x soc which will put the imcs on x58 to shame so itll be awhile till i pick fx back up and thats if i dont find fm1 llano first (also one of those imcs capable of ddr3 4000)

The power supply, SSD, and cooler are not used or are from the era. I will keep the RAM in mind. I just liked how they matched the motherboard, which was more than some new motherboards still. The FX platform is so inefficient that, realistically, 9590s were commonly found under custom loops back in the day.
