Genshin Impact - huge download speed difference between Android and iOS - why?

When downloading the additional 30 or so gigabytes of additional data in Genshin Impact, there is huge difference in download speed between my android phone and Ipad.

On Android, it hovers around 25-30 megabytes per second, but on iOS, it downloads at between 60-70 megabytes per second.

Why this huge difference, any fix, and has anybody else experienced this issue?

Is it only in Genshin? Have you run a speed test on each device?

Yes, only in Genshin, and the speed test is roughly the same on each device using both fast.com and the apeedtest.net app.

if you yourself have one of each device, you should try it out for yourself, and see and report back on your results.

What are the devices being downloaded on? "Android" is an exceptionally broad term that covers everything from an s24 Ultra down to like a Moto G05 that is near E-waste

An M4 ipad pro 11 inch 2024, and a Oneplus 8T with 128gb and 8 gigabyte Ram, updated to Android 14.

I think it`s just simple matter of IPad having faster/newer Wi-Fi hardware module then OnePlus 8T

But if both get the same results in network speedtests, but not in genshin, then it must be a problem with genshin. I wrote this feedback to them years ago, but still no change, also cause on Android, you must download all 30 gigabytes, while on iOS, you can skip much of it.

I mean, that's what you get, the M4 is SIGNIFICANTLY faster at decompression and processing than the 865 (sd8250) that's in the 8T.

M4 single core is about twice that of the 865, which would line up nicely with the twice-as-fast download on the iPad.

Yes, I know this, and it's most likely a correct theory, but also wanted to know if others had experienced the same, to verify this issue and potential theory.

And also, if I bought the new Oneplus 13, with the new snapdragon 8 elite chip, or waited for a phone with the 20-25% faster snapdragon 8 elite 2 chip, and I don't get this faster download speed, to not even mention being locked at 60fps, cause It's genshin on Android... that would really suck.

Also, from what I can find on the Geekbench website, the M4 ipad pro is 3,5 times faster in single core, and 4,5 times in multi core.

Is it really a problem? It's a one time thing every 6 weeks or so. It's done when it is done.

You'll have to wait until the next patch for me to get some data on my Android devices. I'm using a Tab S8. Just loading the game normally, it was getting up to 18MB/s for the small data load at the start but it is a bit short to see. I could look at HSR ZZZ patch next week as substitute.

When I had an iPad mini 2019 it was faster in gaming than the Tab S8 I replaced it with. Hardware was less sturdy than Android so it had to go. Combined with other problems I had with Apple in general, didn't want another, even if best Android at the time was slower.

Yes it is, cause I hate bottlenecks, it prevents you from being spontane, and limits your flexibility, enjoyment, and productivity, and I don’t even play Genshin, or any games for that matter, I just love testing them, uninstalling them, installing them again every once in a while to check for any solved issues or updates, and then uninstall them again.

And this is only a mobile game that has to “only” download 30 gigabytes. Imagine on PC and Mac, where so many games are 100+ gigabytes in size. The company that owns the fiber optic cabels at my house have opened up for 2 gigabit, and eventually 10 gigabit speeds, but no service provider wants to sell a faster than 1 gigabit fiber subscription to private users, cause they say the demand isn’t there.

Of course it’s not there, when it’s not even an option to get a faster connection. And they don’t even wanna do a survey, asking their customers how many of them would upgrade, either at their price or a preferred maximum price, if such a connection was available.

I just hate being limited by software, when I’ve invested in fast hardware, simple as that.
