Have you read the Q&As on the page you linked? The serial number can't be changed. Apparently the SN on the sticker is not the one you need, you need something referred to as GPON serial number.

Yes, this module is compatible with Netgate pfSense 6100. Note: This module does not support SN modification. If you want to use this module for XGSPON connectivity, you need to negotiate with your ISP to add the module SN to the OLT's authentication in order to gain access to the network.

----------

Hi, Karl. This XGS PON stick can only be authenticated by modifying the MAC address. Modifying the serial number is not supported currently.

----------

Sorry, the SN doesn't support modification; otherwise, the module will not function.

----------

I asked my FS sales rep for the login credentials where the username is the GPON serial I needed. The serial on sticker off the module is not the serial number you need to activate the ONU.

After I received the information I contacted my ISP and provided them with the GPON serial number. After a short wait they performed the change to the network. After that I could insert the ONU module in my router and connected the fiber and everything was up and running in a minute.

Dear Networking Experts,

I am seeking advice on configuring a 10G XGSPON SFP+ module from FS.com (product link) to replace my Nokia ONT and connect it directly to my UniFi Pro Max. ISP is Proximus

Issue Details:

  • XGSPON Serial Number: I’ve located the correct GPON serial number and entered it into my ISP’s "Install Your Own Equipment" portal. My old Nokia ONT was disabled successfully, but I am still not receiving Ethernet from the SFP module. Even tho Unifi sees the Module connected (picture)
  • Possible Cloning Requirements: It may require additional details from the Nokia ONT, such as cloning certain settings (e.g., serial number, MAC address, or other identifiers) onto the SFP module or not idk.

Questions:

  1. UniFi Configuration: Are there any specific settings I need to apply on the UniFi Pro Max for XGSPON SFP+ compatibility?
  2. Cloning ONT Details: Has anyone successfully cloned a Nokia ONT’s configuration (serial number, MAC address, etc.) to an SFP module for ISP activation? If so, what tools or commands were used? and do i need that is that my problem?
  3. Telnet or Console Access: Should I access the SFP+ module via Telnet to confirm or modify its settings for ISP requirements? (FS customer support said dont change Gpon id or password.)
  4. Also i can only Telnet the sfp module only when its in lan port, when i change its port again to wan from unifi, i cant access telnet, it needs to be in lan mode, thats normal right?

Current Setup:

  • ISP: Belgium-based Fiber ISP
  • Device: UniFi Pro Max
  • Module: FS.com 10G GPON SFP+

Any guidance on how to proceed with cloning or configuring the module to ensure full compatibility with the ISP would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help!

This is a matter to take up with your ISP. They would know what setting and what equipment is going to be compatible. My ISP for example has a list of Docsis Cable modems they support. Only the ISP will be able to help in this case, assuming what you are doing is a supported thing.

On a side note, some of the Fiber ISP's here in the US use PPoE for authentication or other special authentication methods. Maybe check to see if thats the issue. I know AT&T for example uses some kind of special certificate, while people figured out how to Bypass using their gateway, its not a supported use case and can be hit or miss on if it works.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

It works now, after the command “python fs_xgspon_mod.py overrideslot GPONXXXXXXX 1”  i had to install python.

None of that indicates dirty or anything

Wifi man takes a moment to settle in and the dBm signal looks fine

Hi,

How on earth did you get it to recognize the module? I tried setting my cloud gateway fiber to 192.168.100.2 (the modules default ip is 192.168.100.1), but can’t see it.
