Looking to upgrade my GPU for 1440p gaming.

Budget (including currency): Perfectly 10000nok, can go up to 13000nok, also more than open to buying used.

Country: Norway

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming new titles in 1440p, 1% lows at 60fps, high settings, no need for ray-tracing.

Other details:

Current pc:

CPU - Ryzen 7 7800x3d

RAM - 16gb FURY Beast DDR5 6000MHz (2x8)

GPU - 2070 Super

MB - MSI b650

PSU - 750wtatt

If buying new, ideally i'd go for a 7800xt, but i'd like a upgrade that would last me at least 3-4 year, and with the release of Indiana Jones that requires hardware rt, i'm kind of afraid that future games will also require hardware rt.

If used, my dillema is should i wait for rtx 50-series release, and buy a used 4080, or just settle for a 3080.

AMD cards also support RT, they're simply not as powerful as Nvidia's card at it. Both should launch new cards in January and rumor has it AMD's new GPUs should receive a performance bump for RT. So I'd wait until then.

So i'd like to say that my best option would be waiting for the new release, and buy 8800xt new, as it should be priced simiraly to 7800xt at its release, rather than buying 7800xt, and if i were to buy 7800xt used after 8800xt release, i'd save at best 1500-3000nok.

That makes sense right, not just me being biased towards buying new rather than used.

I would add more RAm and look for a 7900GRE.
