Hi there

I'm having an issue and I'm not sure why, I sincerely hope someone can help me.

I've had an issue for awhile, that my PC doesn't really seem to perform as the hardware in it should allow it.

The newest and best example is my RTX 4070 working at 90% to give me 40FPS in Path Of Exile 2.

My hardware:

CPU
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor

CPU Cooler
NZXT Kraken X62 Liquid CPU Cooler

Motherboard
MSI B450-A PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard

Memory
G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory

Storage
Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive

Video Card
Asus DUAL OC GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB Video Card

Power Supply
Corsair RM750e (2022) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

I'll take any and all help and suggestions.

Might be lacking a bit in the CPU department,

  • Not sure if there are any settings that could help boost the performance, that's also possible

inb4 people falsely put it all on CPU bottleneck.

Damn im late

image.png.a521a7070cbd949f55015502275d8704.png

For people that put it on the CPU
the gpu is taking over twice as long to draw the frame at the settings OP is using.
The CPU is running the game at 100FPS, the GPU is running at 45fps on average, the instantaneous fps is 39, since the gpu took 26ms to draw that frame.

Even Ryzen 5 7600 is in some games 100%+ faster:

but would that help here?

so the CPU hypothetically runs the game at 200fps.
The GPU will still be running that game at 40fps.

Meaning your fps is, 40fps.

What are you talking about?

The CPU in this case 100% the culprit.

Bottleneck if you will. GPU, the RTX 4070 is severely limited by Ryzen 2600. I just added the video to show the scale of how much.

Bro, look up.
The settings OP is using, the CPU is not the culprit,

Perhaps. In any case it's an unbalanced build. Only 1,8GB VRAM usage is strange also.

@Rang0o have you run DDU? Display Driver Uninstaller to remove current Nvidia drivers and reinstall the latest?

5700X3D would be better for gaming

The fact that the CPU is considered a possible bottleneck is enough reason to get a new one.

No its not, I highly discourage money cannoning problems, especially when there isn't reason to believe it will fix the issue.

I'm not that informed on the CPU market though, any good suggestions?

5800x3d is the best gaming CPU for that platform, if you have other games where the CPU is a bottleneck it may help, but if you are playing at 4k, the gains will be minimal, you will see more gains at 1080p.

I have not run DDU, I just run the Nvidia App, I think it was formerly Geforce Experience, I thought it would take care of all that.
Is DDU necessary?

almost never, especially if the GPU has always been the same vendor on that install. but its a quick free sanity check if something did corrupt.

Going into bios to correct the ram speeds to 1800MHz will also be free performance in general use for that PC.

Just to be sure, cause the sites for DDU are kinda sketchy, we are talking about this: https://www.wagnardsoft.com/display-driver-uninstaller-DDU-

Look where that links you to.

Finished DDU, did it en safe mode and everything, reinstalled Nvidia app og latest driver.
It doesn't really seem to have made the big difference though.
I'll try order the CPU and see if that will help out.

Why?
you know its not the CPU

You prove it every time with this.

Did you fix your ram?
What settings are you even running?
Have you tried changing those.

I forgot about the ram, after doing all the DDU.
I put on A-XMP in bios now, ram shows 1667 Mhz, which I believe to make more sense.

Thanks a ton Tan3l6.

Didn't make a difference in the game though.
image.png.4962d24e486cd71f9059e2833a275388.png

I really don't get it...

And I've messed around a bit with POE2 settings, and it doesn't make sense to me, even putting everything on the lowest, it only gets me up to 45fps.
With everything on highest settings it puts me at 40 FPS.

OP, what resolution are you playing at? I may have missed it but I can't seem to find it in the thread?

Edit: Nevermind, I now saw it in the last post. It would have been an easy solution if you were running it at 4k ultra, with raytracing 😅

Edit again: seems like you are not the only one with low fps in that game.

Could be a game driver issue.

Another thread talks about server or connection as the culprit

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)

I am 1920 x 1080, cause I have 2 x 24'' monitors, I did try a different monitor that goes to 3840 x 2160, but didn't have an impact on FPS, so set it back to my 2 monitor setup.

Pretty much anything 5000 series, 5600/5600x/5700x/5700x3D

you know the latency of GPU could just mean the GPU is "waiting" for the CPU, right?

What's in the advanced settings?

does it have this setting?: (if yes try chaning this to DX11 or Vulkan)

I did not, very good to know, I'm thinking I'll upgrade the CPU either way, it's just the most annoying part to change. 🙂

DirectX11 was basically unplayable, Vulkan gave 1-2 more FPS, nothing else noteworthy.
The Advanced settings aren't really graphic related, I can take a screenshot tomorrow if you wanna see.

Havn't really played other games in a long time that has high requirements for my pc, so it's hard to say, you got any recommendations for benchmark or other program I could use to test?

Thanks so far everyone, has been amazing getting so much great feedback so quickly.

Do you have any newer games you could run? It would be good to run a few tests in games like Cyberpunk or similar to see if your 4070 performs accordingly to review benchmarks.
