Hi there, I´ve recenlty (2 months or so) upgraded from a R5 3600 to a R9 5950X and upgraded RAM and the CPU-Cooler aswell (Be quiet dark rock slim -> Deepcool AK620)

now I noticed something strange, the CPU always seemed to need more cooling (louder in games or Idle) than I first expected but I just though my expectations just must have been off

But I just tested something and it seems that loads that just use 2-4 cores with 60% or so usage make the CPU appear way hotter and therefore let the fans ramp up

when I tested a full load with blender and all 16 cores at 100% usage the temps went back down...

TLDR:

2-4 cores;  60% = 75-80°c

16 cores;    100%= 55-60°c

Can anyone explain this ?

Is it just that the temp-sensor is closer to the cores that are used with the 2-4 core scenario ?

Is it something about the type of load its put under ? are there different core types just like in the GPU for 3D, Copy, Video Encode / Decode ?

Could realy use some help here

Nothing too wrong, just faster CPU doing faster job,

less cores utilized can also clock faster vs when doing multi-core job with CPU,

the Ryzen CPUs are fine with 90C temps, how is your CPU fan curve?

The fan curve stays at about 20% up to 50 or 60°c and then ramps up in a proportional scale till it reaches 90°c I think, but ill check later

my power settings are set to balanced just like in the picture, didnt even know about the additional settings. But I also dont have the AMD Ryzen Balanced profile

What did you update before and after the CPU swap?

You have NZXT CAM installed,  impossible to diagnose a system with that as its basically malware... uninstall it fully, try again and never install it again because even if it's not your issue right now, its still basically a power virus/memory hog/with included Spyware to top it off...

I´ll have to look into that, but CAM is basicly the only way to properly control my case fans cause I got the Fan hub installed

Cam can interfere with proper use of fans in a system. Its known to cause cooling issues due to being dummer than a brick.

So would not be too surprised that if you checked fan rpms NOT with cam of other system fans that it may be interfering and making the fans run far too slow.

I got an NZXT H210i  that came with the NTXT Cam Fan hub, so that was the default program I thought I should use for it. I´ve been reading stuff on reddit about the intenet usage of CAM but no clear answer if its still the case with it

yeah but that's how they get you... uninstall it... try fancontrol or buy a proper case that works without malware installed >.<

dont buy nzxt, simple as that.

if you want to keep the case (but why) then buy another fanhub, or stop using a fanhub entirely... you can also control the hub from motherboard that's how i control my fractal design fanhub, no additional software required.

the only reason nzxt exists is to steal your data, and sell you overpriced low budget parts... they're one of the worst in the industry and will never change. get a grip. and good luck.

I'd like a source of this accusatory information

alright, but some people say it's fine,

then there's this:

Quote

So I just recently download CAM software just to check it out, and my temps changed from 30 degrees to 50 idol. During gameplay my temps were getting close to 80 degrees to the point I could feel the heat from coming from my pc. I uninstalled CAM immediately afterwards, a few minutes went by, my temps were below 35, a day went by they were back to its normal 27-28 degrees. I can run two games and I might hit 35 degrees. Might. With CAM 1 game I was pushing 80. The software by my opinion and experience, is a virus.

but seriously there's even a huge thread on LTT about how garbage nzxt CAM specifically is, which i can't find right now... (lol)

(that's besides a gazillion reddit threads about the same topic)

(and that's besides probably a couple of dozens Gamernexus videos about the same subject lol)

it's just unoptimized garbage,  doesn't mean everyone has issues... just most users victims do...

ps: as for your quote...

that's just *one* out of a plethora of issues with this "app"...

it also constantly collects data which you can't opt out, etc...

Ever considered the fact that Google finds results based on prompts?

So if you search for XYZ + problem, it will always find XYZ + problem, almost any product can sound terrible when you Google it this way..
