Budget (including currency): 1600€ or 1250€

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I do game occasionally Counter-Strike 2 and some Dota from time to time. Let's say 2-3 times a week but as you know CS2 has become quite heave on FPS (not the same as CSGO). As per workloads I do use Photoshop and Premier sometimes but my main usage would Web browsing and Virtual Machines (VMWare, Hyper-V) and WSL for testing.

Other details: Currently I own a i5-8600K paired with a Z370 motherboard, 16GB RAM 3200 MHz, GTX 1050 Ti. I have a 24" 144Hz panel on 1080p which I think I am good with it and plan to not change at the moment.

I want to upgrade to a new system as I do not see a point on buying a new GPU and my only better option would be to upgrade my CPU to an i7-8700K.

Therefore I think it would be better to just build a whole new system and probably sell my old one.

On my new build I am looking for longevity, I would like this PC to last for at least 8 years (considering my current build is entering to 7 years now and frankly for my usage it's not bad no issues on my workloads just the Counter-Strike 2 is giving me pain).

I have two options which are on sale:

1600€

  1. Motherboard - B650, CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, GPU - RTX 4070 SUPER, RAM - 32GB 6000 MHz CL30, PSU - 750w, Liquid Cooler

1250€

  1. Motherboard - B650, CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, GPU - RTX 4060 8G, RAM - 32GB 6000 MHz CL30, PSU - 750w, Liquid Cooler

Any suggestions? 🙂

if you plan to use 1440p or 4k in the future the 7950x3d and 9800x3d pretty much will perform the same, but in workloads id go for a 7950x3d because of the extra cores. the 9800x3d only makes sense if your only target is gaming and possibly gaming at 1080p because at higher resolutions the difference really starts to be small

Both builds/options have different GPU's and different price points. I actually lean toward the Ryzen 9 for more cores and also being actually good in gaming.

Haven't decided yet.

It seems to me that using a 9900X or 9950X would give you very good gaming and excellent Photoshop and premiere performance at a better price point.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
