I was thinking about getting the 540hz asus monitor for competitive games, i already have a good pc and was thinking which would be better 540 hz 1080p or 360hz 1440p oled. I do own a 240hz 1440p panel already(Samsung G7 Odyssey) but was just mainly looking for the increased refresh rate though i dont know if its worth it to switch to such high refresh rate at the cost of resolution. Basically i want the best competitive gaming experience

1. Getting 540fps is like nigh impossible cept for 2 handfull of games maybe

2. Diminishing returns are HARD past 144hz. From your 240 to 540 hz one is a ONE millisecond response drop. Aka margin of error.

3. Oled pixel refresh is basically instant making a oled screen at 240hz technically faster already. 360hz obviously so.

Just  make sure tobhave  a screensaver active for your monitor to postpone burnin

Oled's can still burn in long term static elements into the screen. Heaps has been done to avoid that but doing a couple best practice things like a screensaver and such helps a lot

Thank you, sir

Keep in mind this is over YEARS of time. So yeah if you want to upgrade (dont see a reason since you are already basically top end) get the oled.

But yeah general tricks:

DO NOT run it at full brightness stay around 70%

Have a screensaver that comes on after 5m of static stuff on screen

Autohide windows taskbar (or if transparent leave it if doing next point)

Moving background/slideshow background

And thats about it. Keeps an oled pretty pristine for 5 years+.

Well if you want the best as said higher is better right. So either the best strobed 540Hz LCD then or 480Hz OLED even better. You can say 360Hz OLED may be clear as faster LCD without strobe, though you would still see less frames, but a bit clearer, but less. That said also depends on what game you play can it it sustain that high framerate, if so then yeah getting the fastest Hz can make sense more. If a game you play can't then 360Hz would be more reasonable, that said it's not as large upgrade from 240Hz as it's not double jump. Again, depending on game 1440p may provide extra clarity but depends on your/game how beneficial that is.

Personally I prefer motion clarity over res in general. Now you can get 4K 240Hz with 1080p 480Hz mode or 1440p 480Hz OLEDs but note obviously 1440p will be harder to drive especially if you want to reach the highest possible frames in games that can reach those too.

Not really how it works though. Response time is just metric for pixel activity it doesn't directly compare to fluidity difference we can see and feel. Same how it doesn't compare directly to human response time, as that's not how it works like some people confuse it with different meaning numbers.

Diminishing returns are nowhere near as low as that. 240Hz I find to be a minimum really, especially if you're looking at more competitive side, but it's even noticeable in general use on desktop and scrolling so it's beneficial. 500Hz class and 1000Hz will also be beneficial.

There's a lot about this from Blur Busters and tests etc. that show and prove this.
