Name of Brand:

Flexispot

Description of your issue:

I purchased an E7L from Flexispot. When I received it, I started assembling it right away. I noticed multiple problems with Flexispot.

Firstly, the instructions are really bad. It's almost like it's some cheap Chinese brand even though some of their desks have an (alleged) retail price of $900+. Even the videos on their channel are awful. Just a very sped-up video of someone putting the desk together (mostly from one angle, so it's really hard to see what screws they're putting in) with music in the background and no description of exactly what to do. I was eventually able to put it together using hints from both the video and the instructions

Secondly, once I got the legs assembled, I realized that the holes on the chipboard were not aligned at all. It's like there are randomly drilled holes all over the place. While there were plenty of holes along the sides, there weren't any in the areas where the instructions said to put in screws. I ended up having to drill my own holes since it would be a pain to return everything after having already assembled the legs. That's unacceptable, especially considering I paid US$500 for this desk. You can get cheap desks off Amazon for under $200 that don't have this issue. Plenty of other people in the comments of their assembly video had a similar issue. A month ago, they replied to one of the comments, "Our new E7L desktops now come with enhanced hole alignment for better compatibility." This is not true. I received my desk's chipboard on the 3rd of December, way after their comment. They are definitely aware of the issue, yet they are doing nothing to fix it.

Thirdly, they have fake sales. They always have some kind of "flash sale" going on. These flash sales have been the same price, even through Black Friday. The timer always runs out, resets, and returns to a higher number. It creates an unnecessary sense of urgency to order it before the sale "ends."

Once I got the desk actually assembled, I loved it. It's a solid product. The only problems are the lack of good instructions and this major flaw with the chipboards.

Have you tried solving your issue through the brand's customer support channel? If so, what was the result?

Yes, I called their support number. I was told that I had to drill my own holes. I asked them what would happen if I messed up with the drilling. They told me I could just contact them and they'd send a second (or even third if I mess up on that one) for free. I think this is ridiculous. I should not have to drill holes into such an expensive desk just to assemble it.

What would an ideal resolution of your issue look like?

An ideal resolution of my issue would be for Flexispot to fix these issues for future customers and (a long shot, but still) refund everyone who purchased one of these faulty chipboards the cost of the board. The board itself is US$80, although it probably doesn't cost them nearly that much if they're willing to just send them out for free.

I recently assembled the E7 Pro frame and I encountered the same issues with instructions being mediocre. Wasn't sure what screws to use for mounting the the control pad because they didn't labels them in the instructions. There were rubber spacers or something included and they also weren't mentioned.

Whatever, the desk rigidity is amazing. They just need to hire someone to do a second-look at the instructions. Disappointing to see bad instructions for a very expensive product.

Did you have any issues with the holes not lining up or is that just a problem on the L-shaped models?

Yeah, as I said before, the actual desk is very good. It's just the initial experience that is too much of a hassle, especially (as you also mentioned) for the price.

I purchased only the legs, so I cannot comment on their table top quality.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have three desks from them. One small EG1 with the table and two E7s with only the legs. I found their instructions to be okay and haven't had any issues with them. Though I am pretty used to power-tools and assembling furniture overall, so I don't know how representative that is.

Had to contact their support once which got a fast and satisfactory reply. I didn't realize you had to download the receipt within a certain time and then couldn't access it once I wanted to do my tax returns, got a new receipt within one day.

Overall I am pretty happy with them, I do remember that the promo-code that I got from LTT was useless however since their 'flash' sale at the time had a much better rebate and the LTT code would have resulted in an actually higher price.
