Hi to all!

It seems that I can't find straight forward answer to my question.

I bought Arctic Freezer 36 BLACK cooler for my Ryzen 7 5800x.

Following the manual, I managed to install it properly.

I plugged it into CPU_FAN header...and fans weren't spinning...

I was like 🤨 W-T-F???

Then I've read that OPT is used for dual tower coolers.....like mine.

Honestly, whole my life I've had single tower cooler or factory/default cooler.

Ok, I've plugged fans one into another creating "chain"....and plugged it into CPU_OPT.

Everything is working fine.

I can access to fan curve settings in bios...blah, blah...like regular CPU_FAN header.

BUT!

I've seen ppl (on tutorials and stuff) plugging same coolers separatelly, one in CPU_FAN and other fan into CPU_OPT.

Does those ppl have to setup FAN CURVE separatelly in bios (one for CPU_FAN and other for CPU_OPT)?

Which option is better?

Both fans into "chain" and then into CPU_OPT or connect every fan separatelly (fan+opt)?

Thank you.

I heard that coffee's good for my sex life.

It isn't.

It kept me awake through the whole damn thing!

I actually had to participate.

CPU_OPT is for plugging the second CPU cooler fan when the CPU cooler has 2 fans and you need to connect two fans to the motherboard.

It's not for use instead of the CPU_FAN.

So, I made a mistake?

Ok, but when I chain two fans, they won't work in CPU_FAN, they work together in CPU_OPT.

Should I configure separate fan curves in bios?

I have settings for CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT separatelly.

But why would manufacturer build an option to chain cpu coolers if they should be plugged separatelly?

Nope. It's brand new mobo.

It works when 1 fan is plugged.

I mean...I replaced previous cooler (ThermalTake) with Arctic.

Comp was working.

Shuted it down, unplugged it....replaced with Arctic and....nothing...

Chained coolers, plugged into CPU_FAN....nothing....they moved just a little like it doesn't have enough power to push it...

Then I've read somewhere that I should use OPT.

Plugged into OPT....VOILA!

Working.

My mobo is GIGABYTE B550 Aorus Elite V2.

Maybe....just maybe...BIOS saved settings for a fan curve for previous fan.

Could that be an issue?

I mean, previous fan was ThermalTAke ToughAIR 310.

Well, I solved it.

I've inserted "front fan" into CPU_FAN header and "back fan" into CPU_OPT.

I didn't try "chain" connection.

Only.....it didn't work at first.

But I gave it a little push....I've spun fans (with my finger) just a little bit and they started to rotate.

Ofc, I've reset BIOS on "Optimized Defaults".

But in general, Arctic fans have some sort of a delay in general.

They need like 2-3 seconds to start spinning.

Never seen such a problem in my life.
I mean....you plug in cpu fan into fan header......fan started to rotate...

Let's say that "I solved it".

At first, I thought......maybe my PSU is not enough.

But it is ASUS ROG Strix 750W Gold modular, Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite V2, 32GB of ram at 3600MTs (2x16 kit), NVMe SSD, 2xHDD and XFX RX 7800 XT gpu.

This is unrelated but;

Your RAM seems to be in the second slot pair. Doesn't Gigabyte recommend using the first? Check the manual; I am not sure.

Well, I check manuals only not to miss anything....but in general, no.

Maybe Gb recommends first and third slot for ram, I don't know honestly?

Kingston Toolbox doesn't offer any firmware.

Considering gaming....I'm a light gamer.

I'm a very difficult person in terms what I like and don't like.

In five years, I found one or two games to play....newer games are not....exactly to my taste.

8 core cpu will be more than enough in the next 5 years let's say.

I will upgrade my PC.....maybe when "AM6" platform come out. 🤣

Believe it or not, I'm still replaying bunch of old games....and RX 7800 XT will be more than enough when it reaches "minimum" in games.

I'm not a freak for every frame.

I can play game on 30fps with low details.

But I appreciate every suggestion.
