Samsung Monitor Va Panel Backlight Burned out?

Go to solution Solved by Doobeedoo,

Oof, yeah I had one monitor like half of it was very dim, sometimes turning on off would work but eventually stopped and always one side is barely visible. Backlight dying. Can try lower brightness to min turn on off then set to max and see what happens. But yeah replacement.

You tried different cables, not sure about flicker part, I'd doubt it's to do with cable, GPU, driver issue at this point. Monitor backlight is is showing issue.

I've been using a samsung M7 43" 4k monitor(S43AM702UN) for the past 2.5 years bought open box from bestbuy ca directly. Recently noticed that the monitor began to flicker and that half the screen is darker than the other half. I've tried a new hdmi cable, resetting the monitor, turning it on and off, new input device and another monitor but keep getting the issue.

I'm out of the 1 year warranty period so not sure what to do from here. I got a pretty good deal on it for $350 cad / $250 usd but the closest price option is about double that so I want to avoid spending $600+ on a new monitor right now. Am I out of luck at this point? I assume RMA'ing it will just cost the same as a new monitor.

I attached a video of the flickering and a picture of the brightness difference(left is brighter than the right). Lowering the brightness doesn't seem to do much.

Was suggested to me that the backlight is burning out but I couldn't find much abt this happening online, only glowing or burning in which isn't happening.

Appreciate any feedback!
