Apple TV with External HDD (any workarounds) | or Android TV

Hi Everyone,

There's a million different Android TV boxes out there, with a million different reviews on them.

However, they all appear to be slow and clunky to use (in terms of booting up and navigating).
I was initially looking at these, so I can connect a small external SSD with media and use VLC to watch content.

I have an Apple TV gen4 from a while back (It still feels way more responsive to use) but it doesn't allow me to attach external media, it doesn't recognise it through any apps. (USB-C).

My question is, has anyone managed a way around this? Connecting external storage to an Apple TV?
I don't mind going through a Jailbreak process, but I can't even find a video on Youtube that shows me if it will detect external storage after it's jailbroken.

The devices will not be connected to the network.

Any suggestions/ideas?

The apple tv is a closed streaming box. It can watch media over the network from a network share through apps like plex and emby.

But if that is what you want to do. Just get a dirt cheap small office pc + wireless keyboard + built in trackpad for control
