I have a Pixel pro 6 a friend sent me. I can't if it's working right with a wireless charger though

To make a long story really short. I have a less than tech literate friend that for simplicity sake we can call bob.  I have now how, but bob randomly had pixel 6 pro she didn't like. I was fairly surprised when Fedex asked for a signature. I have a Samsung galaxy note something with a pen to   troll and make memes with   write notes with etcetc. basically the same samsung phone Linus had and or has.  I actually like it a ton.

Bob sent me this phone so I (might?) get better call quality. That and she doesn't like it and has her eyes on a hauwei or xaomi (however they're spelled).

I guess it was used with verizon (US if that matter).

What Bob said is "you'll need to chip it with a esim however all that works." Yeah, I don't know what she meant either. I think she meant  it's probably easier to use a esim with it.

My questions are:

I'm skeptical that the pixel 6 would drastically change call quality. Isn't call quality basically down to how congested the local cells are, what kind of building you're in etc etc?

What are peoples experiences with setting up a esim?  Any gatcha's  to be aware of?

The pixel 6 doesn't have a light or animation on the wireless charger, then how on earth do I tell if it's sitting where it'll recharge?

It's also a verizon pixel  6 pro, -_- .   I wonder if you can flash a generic android ROM onto it, it'd seem like it wouldn't make a difference as far as hardware goes
