I need a hero… No access to BIOS via DisplayPort, white VGA light stuck on after boot

Unfortunately this is more of a result of the initialization order of your particular motherboard/gpu on boot (as indicated by CSM fixing the problem). if your bios has a fast boot option try disabling that otherwise I think you might be SOL.

I had a similar issue on a previous system and had to resort to using the windows advanced startup menu to access the bios (or enable CSM), changing to HDMI fixed the problem but as you are aware it will limit refresh rate (depending on monitor and version).

Well… I can’t believe it, but it looks like I actually fixed it. BIOS update.

I actually had done a BIOS update a few months ago when this problem first occurred after the build but it didn’t solve anything. I thought I had found the fix by enabling CSM. Only to realize that I have been running without Resizable BAR this whole time. I’ve been combing the internet for 3 days and posted this cry for help yesterday only to think hmm… might as well see if there is a newer BIOS update. Sure enough. That was it. Thank you very much for your response I greatly appreciate it!

Is there anyone out there that knows how to fix this? I’m normally very good at researching and troubleshooting. But I’ve combed through every board and thread I can find. Starting to think that there is no solution. Build info and attempted fixes are at the bottom of this post. Very thankful for any helpful suggestions.

The Problem:
White VGA light remains lit on motherboard after boot when my GPU is connected to my display via DisplayPort. After booting into Windows system functions normally otherwise. With just an annoying light on all the time.

At power on, monitor starts to wake, detects no signal, sleeps again. Then does wake at Windows boot/login screen.

VGA light does not stay on when connected via HDMI and monitor wakes normally showing BIOS splash screen before booting into windows.

System seems to be skipping BIOS splash screen entirely when connected via DisplayPort. Spamming ESC to get into BIOS after power on does nothing.

Able to access view BIOS splash screen and enter BIOS as normal when connected via HDMI.

Discovered the VGA light and BIOS problem disappear when enabling CSM in BIOS. But I am unable to run Resizable BAR with CSM enabled.

Running system without Resizable BAR is not an option.

Running via HDMI limits me to 144Hz

Only workaround is turning on monitor after PC. Would like PC to connect via DisplayPort and wake monitor as normal, without annoying VGA light being stuck on. While keeping resizable BAR enabled.

Attempted fixes already tried:

pulling CMOS

reseat GPU

reseat RAM

tried on all 3 DisplayPort ports

tried different DisplayPort cables 1.2 and 1.4

tried different monitor

tried updating GPU firmware

I am having somewhat an issue with White VGA light as well...

In my case i upgraded CPU from ryzen 5 1500x  to ryzen 7 5700x3d... (Motherboard - Rog b350f)

Before swapping out CPU i updated bios to latest version for the motherboard.

Now once i boot up i get no output from gpu and white led light keeps on open... I did not try for hdmi output.. I will try...

Although i can't wrap my head around how cable could create an issue... On mobo..

Here's a link to my post....
