Hey everyone!
Lately I've been thinking to upgrade my setup, which I've had for the last 6-7 years. Gonna fill the form to give you some more info!

Budget (including currency): 1.2/1.5 €

Country: Italy

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: this build should be used for both gaming and work! I work with the whole Adobe suite and in the last years I also started to do some 3d modeling/rendering (Blender mostly). I usually like to try/play all the newest games, not many fps (mostly action/rpg/simulation games)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):
My current setup is:

CPU Intel i7-6700k
Motherboard Gigabyte Z170X Designare
Ram 64 gb 3200 MHz
GPU EVGA Nvidia 3070 ti (this is "new", I upgraded it from a Gigabyte Nvidia 2070 Gaming OC)
PSU EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750
Monitor Odyssey G7, 4K / 144hz (also new, upgraded from a 1440p monitor)

Note: one of the new components will be a gift from friends (I guess CPU or - if needed - a new GPU)

The idea is to just build a whole new setup, I don't think I can keep any of these components (except for SSD, monitor and GPU - maybe?).
Thank you for all your suggestion!

ps: I apologise for any grammatical errors - English is not my first language!

You have some nice options.

You can save some money by going with a Ryzen 7 5700X3D paired with a B550 ATX board and a 50€ air cooler.

That would draw out the max out of your GPU. And you'd have enough money left for a GPU upgrade.

It would also let you keep your existing RAM.

The other option is a Ryzen 7 7700 system with a B650E board and 32GB of DDR5 6000 CL30 RAM.

This would allow for future upgrades.

You can use the PSU too.

A 3070Ti is extremely weak for 4K gaming. Unless you game on 1080p...

If you can reuse your case then delete the case and 120mm fan from this build. This allows you to reuse your RAM.

I forgot to write in the form that one of the new components (I guess the most expensive one lol) will be a gift from friends.
And yes, even tho I like the 3070ti a lot, I can see that it struggles a bit in 4K (I guess my choice for the monitor wasn't really smart 💀).

Do you think is a good choice to pick a "old" cpu? But anyway this build would save me a lot of money! I'll keep an eye on this

A 5700X3D

As you can see, a 5800X3D (and thus a 5700X3D) is just fine for 4K.

Sorry for the late reply!
Yes, that definetely looks just fine for 4K! Which GPU would you suggest? At the moment, I put in my list a 4070ti, would that be enough? Is it worth it to wait the new 5000 series?

Btw, I'm just curious, what about the newest CPUs? Aren't they worth it?
