A case with regular panel (no glass/acrylic), and USB-C ports - on a budget - does it exist?

Hello,

I'm looking for a case that has regular side panel and with USB-C port(s), but on a budget, for example, if this case had regular panel it would be perfect: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0D7N5WPF3/

Every case I find has a transparent panel now

Thanks

If you really want a non transparent side panel, it would be easier to just buy whatever case you want, and then spray paint it

I wanted a metal side panel so that it doesn't break because of the environment this PC will be in 😅

my uncle's house with little kids XD. At first I was thinking about buying the Corsair 4000D or the Antec NX500M, but I might want to get another instead

If the kids somehow knock the PC over, it will most likely break anyway, specifically the GPU and the PCIe slot, so the glass panel shouldn't really make a difference

I was worrying more just that it will not have replacement glass and it will stay open

The PC is very simple no gpu only CPU and cooler and nvme so it might survive a regular drop (hopefully)

So it won't be used for gaming, but only things like web browsing? I would just get a mini PC then

that was my first suggestion for him, but he wants "old school pc" 🤣I already ordered the main components (Ryzen 5 5500GT, RAM)

5500GT is overkill for him, but I got it for $75 so why not (my first option was to get a 3400G but it was $55, so no big difference)

You can try to find a cheap PC case on ebay or anywhere else used, there are often lots of old cases

I think they won't have USB-C. So I might just stick to the original plan and get the Antec NX500M (Although it doesn't have front filter so I'm worried for dust accumulation in the future): https://www.antec.com/product/case/nx500m

OP What about this case? The Be Quiet Pure Base 501. Is that too much budget-wise or do I need to go cheaper?

Yes it's a bit expensive

Adding usbc would be the easiest way I think to get what you want. Either with a dremel or get an old school case with 5.25 bay.

True, that might be the best option actually (Although most of the cases with 5.25 bay I saw, or available where I live, have very bad airflow, or the front is completely blocked, except for maybe Antec GX202 (But it has window - but perhaps Acrylic is less fragile than glass so I can take it - or you know of a good case with 5.25 and decent mesh on the front?)

Another alternative is to get a case that has a glass side panel that uses thumb screws as the mounting point. Then just replace the glass with sheet steel with 4 holes. I did that. Works fine.

If it’s an mATX or mITX board, this case would work.

This is an ATX case, but it’s also more expensive.

Damn, PC case is one of the only things I must buy locally because Amazon don't ship it, or they shipping costs are very high (because it's large and heavy).

And I checked locally - the Asus case is somehow $140 here and the Define 7.... $240 😂,  damn they are thieves here

Where are you located? It’s good you have some local shops at least.

Israel,

I found a slightly "cheaper" store, for $230 and not $240 (871): https://tms.co.il/brand-fractal-design?product_id=102816&page=2&srsltid=AfmBOoqlweBH0sPUyVnxIwSwK2fAywEbXp397K8R5ZRX5g6vTZ8ZfxD4

Yes it's good to have local stores, but not in their prices. I only buy from them in "emergencies" when something breaks and I need it now.

I worked at a shop that built PCs and sold PC parts and laptops for businesses, so I had access to the prices of the same importers/dealers of PC hardware here (there are only a few who import the main stuff), and I saw for how much gain the stores are selling the parts - and they can definitely sell it for much less.

If the price difference wasn't so big I would have loved to support them, but that's just too much

Edit: I just checked the prices of the same/similar components I'm buying right now for this PC I'm building, and if I bought everything locally it would cost ~$650.

And from Amazon/AliExpress it costs ~$380

Case: Antec NX200M - 45/45

Motherboard - cheapest available B550M - 140/75 (Gigabyte vs ASRock)

CPU - Ryzen 5 5500GT - 170/75

RAM - HyperX Fury 2x8GB 3200Mhz CL16 - 50/30

Cooler - decent tower cooler - 40/20

Storage - WD SN850X 1TB - 120/75

PSU - Cheapest decent PSU from Tier B - 90/60
