Glasses Free 3D displays aren’t a new thing, but they never manage to gain a wide audience. Can Acer’s Spatial Labs overcome the limitations and wow our team?

The required SW is making this DOA for me. Wish this kind of thing was SW agnostic as it limits choices with picking OS.

It's really cool though, I'd love to play games like this... on a better screen as well.

The only reason to use this over VR is the comfort. I can't imagine myself sitting at a desk with VR headset on for hours each day though as an alternative at it's current price it makes this kinda pointless, unless I'm missing something.

I think the only way we'd get to the point of agnostic-3D would be by piping the raw 3D information direct to display device and having the rasterization/interpretation occur there (shifting where in the pipeline the video cable is, basically). Seeing how hard high-bandwidth 2D is sometimes (both electromechanically and digitally), I can almost assure everyone that this won't happen.

Super excited to see this video come out. I worked at the company who developed the tech behind the screen and I've been hoping for Linus to cover it ever since.

The screen isn't perfect, true, but there's a lot of potential here.

These screens support high refresh rates, high resolutions, modern panel tech like OLED and IPS, G-Sync etc. It's not just a 3D display, it automatically switches between 2D and 3D mode and there's even an SDK that anyone can use to make their own software/tools for it.

I actually made a project called "Game Bridge" that lets you play pretty much any game in 3D, you can choose your own 3D conversion method (SuperDepth3D as mentioned in the video, Geo-11, Geo3D, UEVR, Native 3D etc) and the software will handle the conversion to the screen. As a result, it supports far more than a few hundred games and apps. ^^ (https://github.com/BramTeurlings/3DGameBridge/wiki)

The main thing to love about this tech is how it's simply a straight upgrade over the conventional displays we know and use every day. It's not VR, it doesn't even compete with VR at all. It's more intuitive and comfortable than VR and moreover, it's not made for VR games. It's made for normal PC games but it elevates them into the third dimension. Not to mention it handles 3D movies and 3D modeling as well.

I'm really not a fan of Acer's software suite though, it's something I guess but I agree it leaves a lot to be desired. It's all fixable with enough support/time. The price point is a bit of a stinger though, I wish it was cheaper too but I know it can be once we get past the early adoption stage and go towards mass-production.

I reached out to LTT to offer help with any info they may have needed for this video but they didn't reply to me. I'd still be more than happy to help them or anyone here answer questions about these awesome screens though!

Under the ReShade installer. You have an option to bypass the Acer True Game software and load SuperDepth3D with the 3DGamingBridge Add-on. I believe this should allow you to bypass the software restriction acer placed as mentioned in Linus's Video.

As BramTeurlings said in the post above this is a optional way of viewing 3D Content.

Here is a Video Guide for it.

I am not the best at making videos. But, it shows you how to make this specific game work.

We also have Text Hardware guides on our Discord.

SuperDepth3D supports many games for free on it's own. You can play new titles like God of War or even some anti-cheat-protected games like Elden Ring. We are a growing community, and we welcome both new and experienced users of 3D technology to enjoy the hardware they have, from VR headsets to 3D monitors.

Feel Free to join.
