Hi there,

I want to upgrade my system by getting a bigger TV/Projector for Gaming and watching Movies.

I'm playing Star Citizen, Hell Divers, CyberPunk (with DreamPunk mod) and I think it would be much more fun with a bigger TV or Projector.

I wouldn't mind a Projector, the issue is that the colors are not really that great, at least the ones I've seen.

LTT made a video about the 110" 10k nit TV, there is also a 85" TV, the same specs but 1/4th the price. I think the best TV would be the 85" TV from HiSense but are there maybe some TV as good but cheaper?

About Projectors? I have no clue, I know a little bit about it but I have no clue.

Currently using a Dell AW3821DW Monitor.

What is the ambient light situation in the room? If there is any and you care about color and contrast, then get the TV.

I'm also thinking about getting a projector to add to my home cinema system which is currently displaying on a C2 65" LG Oled.

I think the issue I am having is as far as I can see, projectors don't have any form of VRR capability which is kinda essential for me. Even with my 4090, maintaining 120fps at 4k with all the trimmings set to max isn't always possible so a drop to 60 is what would happen on a fixed refresh rate panel / projector.

Please correct me if I'm wrong on that last part though.

Also, as @Blue4130 mentioned, ambient light is key to a good experience with a projector or at the very least, to keep the cost down.

I had the chance to test drive an XGIMI Horizon Ultra a few months ago and for about £1500, I was blown away BUT it was in my cinema room which is light controlled.

I can make my room pitch black.

The projectors I saw didn't present themselves good, the colors looked extremely washed out.

The issue at the store where I was, it's that there are many lights so you can't get a feeling of what a X projector is capable of. For me the main reason for a projector would be the screen size should be like 100"+

To me, this is the only reason to get a projector these days. And that size number keeps going up since large TV's are getting cheaper and cheaper. For 100" and smaller, get a TV. Even a cheap TV is going to look better in *most* situations.
