Thermalright AX120 R SE or DEEPCOOL AG400 Plus

Hello,

Which of the following coolers should I get for the Ryzen 5 5500GT?

The Thermalright AX120 R SE: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005064893324.html

or the DeepCool AG400 Plushttps://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007540289009.html

Btw, at first the AG400 Plus was more expensive than the Thermalright, but then I found a link that it's cheaper.

Looks like for $20, the DeepCool is a no brainer? Unless there's something much better in the Thermalright that I should know of?

Thanks

Which AX120 R SE exactly? Please link to TR site.

If it is the original, that is definitely inferior to the AG400.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

I checked all of the other AC120 R SE. DC's AG400 is the best choice.

but the weird thing is, the AG 400 Plus is the cheaper one right now, and it has 2 fans! and plus the coupons, I got this massive tower cooler with 2 fans for $17.

So far I ordered the following parts for the PC:

Ryzen 5 5500GT

HyperX Fury Beast 2x8GB 3200Mhz CL16

DeepCool AG400 Plus

Planned parts to complete the build:

Antec NX500M ARGB - $45

The best PSU for around $50-60 I can get

(Motherboard is either the A320M I have, or maybe any cheap B550 for gen 4 nvme)

Be sure to use the PSU tiers list so you don't get a dud.

Definitely, only B tier and above

If you see that it's gold rated by 80+, that's very much better. Even better, though, go to Cybenetics Lab and check out their ratings, which are more stringent.

I wish, but looking at PSU prices now, and the fact that my uncle has tight budget, I doubt I can get a cybernetics gold PSU.

Amazon does not ship many PSUs to me, and the ones that they do send so far, are mediocre or too expensive

Even if it's not a CL gold, their ratings are more trustworthy. And what their rating is doesn't necessarily mean that the product is too expensive. You have nothing to lose by looking.

Thank you, I did a search there but couldn't find anything available or at the budget. RIght now my option is this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CZWTS2CL

But it's not on the Tier List, so I wonder how bad it is, or how good it is. No information online also about it - should I create a post in the PSU sub-forum specifically for this?

thank you!

btw I can get the BN and not BE: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0991W1HKT/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_4?smid=A2XZ7JICGUQ1CX&psc=1

BN seem to have more information online, and it seem to be the "Best in the Tier": https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/

It's best in its tier, though it's Tier C - and I said earlier I only want Tier B and above. How bad is Tier C? Like why is it there?

Tough to say.. lately I have been buying EVGA and Seasonic PSU's..

Can only complain about the EVGA one because it makes a sizzle crackly sound when you trip the switch at the back.. so I stopped using it 😄

It can't hurt to ask there.

If you wait till Black Friday,  you'll have more options. Also, try looking at other vendor sites.

Interesting. The other day my EVGA started making an odd sizzling noise.
