Asking this cause I probably do not know GPU's enough to actually determine their performance. But is the 7800xt just better than the 7900gre cause what I'm seeing rn with the build I'm trying to put together is that the 7800XTm just has a better base clock and oc speeds than compared to a 7900GRE.

The two GPUs I'm comparing:
7900GRE:

7800XT:
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/mHpQzy/gigabyte-gaming-oc-radeon-rx-7800-xt-16-gb-video-card-gv-r78xtgaming-oc-16gd

Not only is the 7800XT priced $100 less than the 7900 but its somehow better and what confuses me the most is that a yt video someone posted when suggesting parts of the build shows that the 7900GRE is better even to a great extent. Pricing is in AUD btw

So someone please give me a small rundown of all this also I plan on doing 1440p gaming

Yes you are. Rule of thumb, if the numbers higher the cards better. Trust me bro.

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).

I love Photography (Using a Canon 60D)

Love F1, my favourite team is Ferrari and my favourite driver is Leclerc

Its not better, but might be better price to performance. Asus Dual seems like the way to go, again 708 AUD: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/tXNYcf/asus-dual-oc-radeon-rx-7800-xt-16-gb-video-card-90yv0jj1-m0aa00

7900GRE has more GPU power (cores/TMUs) than the 7800XT , so is a bit faster overall

And it has more room for OC

It has a bit less VRAM bandwidth tho, so in some specific cases it  can be slower...

The clocks matter when you are comparing two cards of same GPU die. In your case both GPU uses different die and have different shader amounts. Thus you cannot use clocks to compare.

An i3 running at 6.0ghz would be beaten by a threadripper running at 1ghz only in terms of multi threading.
