I think i just got a really shit 13700k/it is degraded. cant warranty because amazon shipped it for free totally accidentally alongside a motherboard. is 1.45v safe for daily usage? according to hwinfo it peaks at 1.447v

First thing to do in that case would be to ensure you have the latest BIOS with Intel's latest microcode updates. That should prevent any further degradation, though of course it won't fix existing degradation, if there is any. From my understanding the issue is caused by too high voltages at idle, not under load.

i already updated, so it shouldnt get worse hopefully.

How do you know that it is poor quality or degraded? Just because it is running at high voltages? All the processors binned as an i7 will run at those same voltages only. Voltages are not adjusted for every single processor, just all SKUs or models.

Kind of high for a 13700K. It's not even an i9 to reach those really high clock speeds. It only does 5400 MHz. That shouldn't require such voltage, but if you did not touch anything, I think that's just how it is. Plus, an i7 is lower binned than an i9, so that might be why it could be requiring more voltage, but I don't have much idea.

Just make sure that you have the latest microcode patch. If you want to, you could try some undervolting which should help. At the worst case, you can put an IA core voltage limit, but I think that's unnecessary.

Microsoft owns my soul.

Also, Dell is evil, but HP kinda nice.

it is poor quality/degraded because in the BIOS there are voltage presets, one for best case, one for average case, one for worst case, and then a 'fail safe' which will hit 1.5 for if you have a truly dogshit cpu. mine is not stable on the average case and needs a 25mv on the standard preset to be stable.

i do have the microcode. currently it is stable with a peak HWinfo vcore of 1.430v

What? I didn't know such firmware options existed in some motherboards. Just keep your CPU at stock, and if something does happen, then it is an easy return under warranty.

Here is the explainer. i dont have warranty because i got this CPU accidentally. I didnt order it, amazon just sent it. lol.
