I've run into a strange problem with my PC refusing to boot into windows unless my second NVME drive is plugged in.

Recently, I had installed windows on a new NVME drive (NVME1) and had formatted the other NVME drive (NVME2) where my previous copy of windows is. However, when removing NVME 2 and trying to boot into windows on NMV1, my PC just goes straight into the BIOS and refuses to recognise that NVME 1 has an operating system. I thought this was strange, so I plugged NVME2 back into my PC and for some weird reason it manages to boot into windows despite having been formatted. When I booted back into windows, I noticed that NVME 2 now has a windows folder with the files windows > Logs > RecEnv_Ramdisk and 4 files with the name diagerr.html, diagwrn.html, setupact.txt and setuperr.txt. I checked the text files and it's stuff I don't understand. I've put the logs of what setupact.txt says right here: -> https://pastebin.com/37s1XXuq

Could anyone help me out? Am I screwed and have to reinstall windows again? thanks in advance.

Did you install Windows onto the computer when both drives were plugged in? If so, the installer likely put the EFI/boot partition on your 2nd drive because Windows Installer be dumb sometimes. You can verify this by screenshotting the Disk Management app showing both your disks when you're booted into Windows. While I'm sure you can move this partition to your main drive where Windows is actually installed... I just end up reinstalling Windows without any drives plugged in aside from the one I want Windows on when this happens as this is far easier.

I'm pretty sure a repair install will fix the boot problem without destroying what you have.

If you're interested in a product please download and read the manual first.

Don't forget to tag or quote in your reply if you want me to know you've answered or have another question.

As long as there's room on the OS drive for the hidden partitions.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.
