I have a very fluffy cat who tends to build up static electricity and sometimes I hear it discharge when she jumps on my computer as well as Windows making the sound effect that something has disconnected, though everything that is plugged in still works. I assume that the internals are fine, but I just want to double check. I live in a small wall to wall carpeted apartment and my PC case is CORSAIR iCUE 4000X RGB Tempered Glass.

You're definitely not the only PC owner with a fat fluffy cat, and there aren't all that many stories on the interwebz of cats frying PCs by walking alongside them. I think you're ok.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

I have had 4 cats with 3 PCs, then 1 cat with 1 PC, now 3 cats with 3 PCs.  No issues for decades.

Metal case is like a faraday's cage. Like lightning doesn't go in your car either. And it usually is grounded (even if the contact to the PSU isn't properly bonded). it iwll be fine.

Don't let your cat play with exposed pins. Like don't let here install the CPU without being grounded.

I used to build computers on my living room carpet when I was a young guy.

Never had a problem..

But I do not do that anymore 😄
