I'd estimate about 1200 usd? Just cause he's going kinda based off how much he feels like spending when we shop, so I'm guesstimating on how he feels lol. And yeah I'd buy it all in one if it was just mine.

Something like this then

Hello friends, as the title said I'm helping out my cousin build a computer. I don't really have an exact budget

I'm just helping him out with general tech information about what I know to supplement his info, but I'm no expert.

We're planning on buying the amd 7600xt. Just cause its pretty cheap right now for the performance. We wanted

to spend a little under 300 for the motherboard and cpu combo. Originally we were going with the ryzen 5 5600x.

Just for price despite the bottleneck (using pc builds bottleneck calc). But we found a motherboard called the

MSI Pro A620M-E for 70~ bucks and i told him to get that one so we could splurge on a better cpu(ryzen 5 7600x).

We bought the motherboard planning to come back for more parts after pay day, but now looking online all reviews

for the motherboard are calling it the worst thing to exist. Is it that bad for our build? Some people even say it'll

burn up our parts. Should we return it and look for another?

Just planning on 1080p general gaming btw.

Thanks for any help!

1) dont believe bottleneck calcs those are plain old BS. Just check benchmarks of a certain combo on yt and websites no calcs

2) If you are from a country like america I'd suggest looking into micro center deals since you can find ram+mobo+cpu combos for crazy low prices otherwise just get what fits in budget

3) yeah in general A620 boards are uh... not good. a cheaper b650m like an asrock H/m.2 or if you are lucky an HDV/m.2 or an msi pro B650m-p will get you MUCH better performance with a ryzen 5 7600 (better to get a non x and a reliable mobo). Although you can go for am4 to save money since you are going 1080p and get a good AM4 atx board with a 5600x or a 5700x since prices in am4 boards have been relatively good lately only downside is that am4 is "dead" (or we think unless amd gives another suprise am4 cpu like the 5700x3d)

4) A viable option instead of an am4 is going intel 12400f with a b760m board ddr5 where you get a cheap good cpu and the ability to take advantage of ddr5 memory and have the advantage of having recent cpus that are at least good like a 13400f as an upgrade if need be

What's your overall budget?

Don't split it per part it's not efficient

Regarding your mobo it does look bad indeed, better get a cheap B650

Thanks for your input. One clarification, is it not better to just stick with the cheaper board so I can afford the best cpu in my budget? Is going down to the 5600 or 5700 worth?

A cheap b650 micro atx will be far better than a a620 since a620 with ryzen 7600 would be putting a monster truck engine in an old toyota from 1975 basically. For 1080p am4 has a lot of value still ,especially when on a stricter budget, as well so yes its a good thing to consider.

I saw you have around 1200 usd budget (estimated but still) for around that you can get a very good am5 pc by just going ryzen 7600, eagle AX B650 and an rx 7800x, where youd be set (maybe a bit overkill) for 1080p and have plenty of room for 1440p should you need/want it. Maybe explain to him that its better to have a whole set rather than buying in pieces cause you'd be able to split it more efficiently (if he is young say it in legos like "would you rather have a whole tin and a few sets to play with or wait for every christmas to get a new one?" or smt along those lines) But yeah bottom line, Look for bundles in micro center to maximize the value you get and if you cant go am5 b650 avoid a620 and go either intel 12th-14th gen or am4.
