Hello gentlemen!

Picking new motherboard since my asrock board died and notice one bizarre thing about msi boards.

Somehow B650 Has more usb 4.0 and more usb 3.0 ports than x870 while costing far less and also having DP port in addition to hdmi.

Yeah i understand x870 has three usb c fancy ports, however i never used, maybe once on my b650e pg riptide motherboard which died.

X870 also has wifi 7 which also won't be felt since usually using gigabyte port is the way to go. I also understand that its more than just usb's

but neither x670e and x870 with it's extra m2 gen 5 slots, doesn't matter when ssd's are still overpriced and difference is almost non for daily usage compared to good gen 4 ssd.

Could it be, that b650 tomahawk is just better value overall ?

That's why. The less expensive board has more, but slower, USB ports.

Two of the USB type C ports on the x870 board also handle DisplayPort, so it actually has three display outputs. It just doesn't have a native "traditional" DisplayPort port.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

So they actually chose usb c which can handle monitors however even my recently bought alienware AW3225QF 4k 240hz doesn't have usb c to use thunderbolt cable, maybe usb c to dp, but that's just inconvenient.

I'd still just use standard DP, even DP 1.4 with DSC to run 4K 240Hz. You wouldn't be using the type-c port on the motherboard to display output to a gaming display unless that motherboard had a DP-in to passthrough that signal. I would then still not use that for a high end gaming monitor because it should add some latency, so keeping it simple is best.
