(SOLVED) It was the charger, for some reason it charged my phone and not the laptop

Hello,

I have a Thinkpad T14 G1 (I5 10210u, 16GB ram), that I got from ebay a few months ago for college. I installed linux mint on to it and I have had no issues there. It has been working fine up until yesterday.

So yesterday I acidentally dropped my laptop about 50cm. It was not charging, I was sitting down and looking at something on the laptop before class. The only damage from the drop that I can see is cosmetic, as the (if looking straight at screen) bottom left side is slightly dented.

Regarding the port. Externally I cant see any damage. It also worked when I charged my phone from it a few minutes later. Everything worked fine and there were no issues. I could still charge my phone from the battery. I also used the laptop without issue until I went to charge it.

When I tried to charge it, it would not. The red light turns on, then of again. And the battery indicated it was not charging even when the light was on. The same thing happens on both usb c ports. The charger works fine, as it charges my phone and anything else I use, I have also never had any problems with the charger. I have already tried removing and reinstalling the battery, and the issue remains.

Any idea on how I could solve this?

So it seems there's something wrong with either USB-C port or it's power management.

I'd probably open the cover and check the USB-C port and check all connectors.

I guess you haven't got warranty any more.

I'd still try another charger

I'm willing to swim against the current.

Try using the 2nd usb-c port instead, labelled port 6. You can also try resetting the motherboard/battery with the reset button in the buttom off the PC.
